Kuala Lumpur, 25 October 2023 - Unifi Business is set to accelerate local MSME digitalisation through Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM). Recently reinforced in Budget 2024, the government aims to incentivise local MSME through the GDPM to embrace business digitalisation for business growth.

Local MSME make up 97.4% of overall domestic businesses and provide employment to 47.8% of the population. However, a majority of them (about 77%) remain at the basic stage of digitalisation.

The programme costing approximately RM400,000 is shared between YTM, YDSM and Multimedia University (MMU).

The collaboration also involved other parties namely Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA).

The signing of the MoU was graced by the esteemed presence of Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Wathiqu Billah, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of YTM said, “Through their involvement in the Siswazah Usahawan Digital Terengganu (SISDIT) programme, the participants can acquire holistic entrepreneurship skills and knowledge while earning them the globally acknowledged digital qualification, International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) Digital Marketing Certification to complete their skill sets. KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September 2023 - TM Global, the domestic and international wholesale business arm of TM, solidified its commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital landscape by announcing its recent participation as a consortium member of the Asia Link Cable System (ALC).  This strategic move positions Malaysia as one of the key destinations connecting Malaysia to Hong Kong SAR.

TM’s entry into the consortium was made official during the signing of the Construction and Maintenance Agreement (C&MA) with all consortium members held in Penang recently. The current seven members from the ASEAN and North Asia regions include Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel); China Telecom Global Limited (CTG); China Telecommunications Corporation (CTC); Globe Telecom (Globe) and DITO Telecommunity Corporation (DITO) of the Philippines, Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) of Brunei and Global Transit Singapore Pte. Ltd (GTS).

Commenting on this partnership, Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s covering Executive Vice President said, “Our inclusion in the ALC consortium marks another milestone in TM Global’s ongoing efforts to position Malaysia as a digital hub in the region.

Spanning a total distance of approximately 7,200 km with an initial design capacity of 24Tbps, the Cable Landing Station (CLS) for ALC will be strategically located at TM Exchange Kuala Sedili, and will capitalise on its proximity to TM’s Iskandar Puteri data centre in Johor.

The Sedili CLS is the sixth international CLS in the country, including Kuala Muda, Morib, Mersing, Cherating and Melaka. Its construction is projected to be completed by 2025.

The ALC will significantly boost the data-transfer capacity of TM’s existing submarine cable systems, catering to the increasing bandwidth demands across the ASEAN and North Asia regions. Furthermore, the ALC adopts an open cable system design that is adaptable and compatible with various technologies and upgrades. This better positions TM and other consortium members to address the growing bandwidth demand for higher data capacity.

With 32 owned and leased submarine cable systems spanning more than 340,000 kilometres around the globe, TM is committed to providing the highest service performance and best quality experience to customers domestically and internationally.

BATU PAHAT, 12 September 2023 – TM, through its corporate responsibility arm, Yayasan TM (YTM), collaborates with two more secondary schools in Peninsula Malaysia to expand its TM Future Skills (TMFS) programme. The programme aims at enhancing digital skills among students from B40 or low-income families by integrating digital technologies into their learning experiences.

The newly included schools – SMK Dengkil in Selangor and SMK Tunku Putra in Johor join the programme after the successful launch of the first TMFS school, SMK Gunung Semanggol in Perak last November. These schools were selected because they have the highest percentage of B40 students in their districts and are actively engaged in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities.

“At TM, we hold a firm belief in the pivotal role of Malaysian youth in propelling the nation’s growth and societal advancement. As an organisation that has been instrumental in the establishment of Digital Malaysia, we remain unwavering in our commitment to nurturing the next generation as drivers of our digital economy and the ongoing Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). The TMFS programme fulfils this commitment by equipping students with digital skills, while emphasising on leadership, design thinking, and cognitive abilities,” said Ainol Shaharina Sahar, Director of YTM during the TMFS launching ceremony at SMK Tunku Putra recently.

SEOUL, 6 September 2023 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and SK Telecom today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to jointly develop the Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) business arrangement in Malaysia. This will pave the way for the business to be pioneered and provisioned in Malaysia.

The signing took place at SK Telecom’s headquarters in Seoul in the presence of YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications and Digital, Malaysia who had just arrived in South Korea for a working visit. TM was represented by Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s covering Executive Vice President, while signing on behalf of SK Telecom was its Vice President and Head of Enterprise CIC of SKT, Kyeong Deog Kim.
