Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has today announced the launch of its Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap (Home Internet) for underserved communities in Malaysia, in response to the challenges faced by these key communities in the digital age. The offering is aligned with the Ministry of Communications and Digital’s efforts to address concerns of underserved Malaysians from the B40, the elderly, OKU, and army-police veterans in accessing reliable and affordable internet services.
Following Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil’s announcement today during the launching ceremony in Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani, Kedah, Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap is now available for subscription nationwide. This collaboration between TM and the Government demonstrates the shared commitment to deliver digital inclusivity throughout Malaysia.
Underserved communities often experience adversity in accessing the benefits of the digital world and uninterrupted connectivity. Students from low-income households, for example, face challenges in accessing online learning platforms, while job seekers may struggle to find employment opportunities or even in starting up small e-Commerce businesses to support their livelihoods. Additionally, a lack of access to digital services and information can limit options for essential services, such as healthcare and Government services. Via this offering, TM seeks to bridge the digital divide through hyperconnectivity and empower these communities with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in the digital age.
“As a conscientious corporate entity, TM has a social responsibility to create a meaningful impact on the community. Unifi’s fixed broadband services will be available at a more affordable rate, ensuring that more Malaysians have access to reliable internet connectivity. This will not only enhance their online experience but also enable them to participate in the digital economy, which is crucial for the country's economic growth,” said Tengku Muneer Tengku Muzani, TM’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer.
“Access to good connectivity will enable greater access to education and job opportunities, as well as information and services that are increasingly being delivered online. It will also allow individuals to stay connected with their loved ones, regardless of physical distance. Furthermore, it will provide a platform for underserved communities to voice their concerns and engage in broader societal discourse.”
“TM stands as the foremost provider of fixed broadband services in Malaysia, delivering superior connectivity and services, bridging the digital divide. As a Public Listed Company (PLC) and Government-Linked Company (GLC), TM is uniquely positioned to balance the interests of its stakeholders, ensuring commercial sustainability while enabling digital inclusivity and driving national development initiatives. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, TM remains dedicated to delivering the best broadband experience and driving a Digital Malaysia. We remain committed to providing innovative solutions and services that cater to the evolving needs of all Malaysians. We believe that everyone should have equal access to the benefits of the digital world, and are proud to be at the forefront of this effort,” added Muneer.
Unifi’s Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap offers an unlimited fixed broadband package at RM69 with savings of RM480 across 24-months, for all new and existing Unifi customers from those key target segments. Registration is open until 31 December 2023 for all eligible subscribers, but will be limited to only one (1) package per person.
Earlier in March, TM also announced Pakej Perpaduan Prabayar Mudah Alih (Prepaid Mobile) and together, these services will enable ubiquitous connectivity and reinforces TM’s fixed-mobile convergence leadership, offering integrated fixed broadband, mobile services, and digital content to more Malaysians. Both of these offerings will be provided through Unifi Home and Unifi Mobile respectively.
“The benefits of this initiative are manifold, and we hope to better empower underserved communities and give them access to the resources and opportunities that the internet has to offer. This initiative is a testament of our commitment to social responsibility and in creating a more connected world. It also speaks to our vision of becoming a human-centred TechCo, leveraging technologies to provide equal opportunities for every Malaysian. Through our role in digital nation building, we are committed to serving the nation’s interest more directly and to bring greater impact to our diverse communities,” concluded Muneer.

TM Advances STEM Education at 35 Schools Nationwide, Launches TMFS Programme
PENANG, 26 November 2025 – Yayasan TM (YTM), the foundation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), today launched the TM Future Skills (TMFS) programme at SMKA (P) AlMashoor, Penang, one of 35 schools nationwide adopted by YTM under the Government’s Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI initiative. Representing YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah bin Azizan, Minister of Finance II, the launch was officiated by YB Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Finance – marking an important milestone in expanding digital learning opportunities and strengthening students’ participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As an all-girls school, SMKA (P) AlMashoor represents an important opportunity to strengthen female participation in STEM and inspire more young women to pursue future-focused fields. This aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality), particularly in ensuring equal access to education and promoting women’s involvement in science and technology. The school also exemplifies the inclusivity that TMFS aims to deliver across all 35 adopted schools which span remote, island, vernacular and religious schools. This diversity underscores TM’s commitment to ensuring that students, regardless of background or learning environment, gain equitable access to future-ready digital education. YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah bin Azizan, Minister of Finance II, highlighted the importance of strengthening digital readiness in schools to support Malaysia’s long-term economic aspirations. “Initiatives such as TM Future Skills play a meaningful role in preparing students with the digital competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world, particularly for high-value sectors that drive national growth. This is an exemplary model of a collaborative effort between government, industry and schools, and I applaud TM for this programme.” TMFS provides students with structured exposure to STEM subjects through hands-on learning and practical application, including robotics, 3D design, coding, microcontrollers and AI-assisted learning tools. Beyond STEM modules, TMFS also offers teacher certification, digital and soft-skills training including AI learning and communication skills, as well as capability building activities beyond the classroom, such as sports and academic competitions. These components ensure a more holistic and integrated future skills experience for participating schools. A central feature of the programme is the TMFS Digital Hub. Equipped with 3D printers, robotics kits, programming and coding sets, the hub enables students to apply classroom concepts through real-world activities. Selected “nucleus” schools such as SMKA (P) AlMashoor will also extend the benefits of their Digital Hubs to surrounding satellite schools, contributing to the programme’s broader reach. Collectively, the TMFS programme is expected to benefit more than 60,000 students nationwide through shared learning, digital training and enhanced teacher readiness. TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, said, “TMFS plays an important role in developing Malaysia’s future digital talent. By expanding this programme to 35 schools nationwide, we are enabling more students to acquire the skills needed to succeed in a digital world. This reflects TM’s greater purpose as a nation builder - to nurture talent, broaden digital participation and support a more inclusive future for all Malaysians, in line with our aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030.”
YTM and Istana Negara equips higher risk communities with disaster preparedness
Facilitates the development of localised Emergency Response Plans Over the years, Yayasan TM (YTM) has been actively involved in disaster emergency response efforts and lent its helping hand to affected communities in various ways. With many tragic losses of life and property due to natural disasters, it is imperative to help the public better understand the importance of preparedness, the risks involved and build capacities for pre-emptive and early action, including identifying vulnerabilities and potential impact on people and assets. Through its latest initiative, the YTM-Istana Negara Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Programme (CBDRRM), organised in collaboration with Istana Negara, the programme is aimed at empowering communities especially women and children as well as building community resilience during disasters with the necessary knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness - in alignment to the Government's aspiration to nurture a disaster preparedness culture among Malaysians. For the inaugural edition of the programme, YTM identified three (3) high risk areas in Kuantan, Maran and Bentong districts in Pahang. This is also a continuation from the support to the local communities post-flood early this year where YTM, together with Istana Negara provided basic necessities, workforce and monetary assistance to citizens in Karak, Ulu Tembeling and Kuantan districts. “This CBDRRM programme is both important and timely, in view of frequent heavy rain and storms of late. We hope that the local communities will fully utilise the skills and knowledge obtained from the initiative, to be better prepared for in the event of any flood incidents in their respective areas, minimising the impact and ultimately, saving lives,” said Izlyn Ramli, Director of YTM. “We were delighted to find that these modules were very helpful for them based on their feedback. Meanwhile, we remain on the ready to deploy response and humanitarian aid should the need arise,” she added. The first one was held in August 2022 for the community in Perumahan Awam Kos Rendah (PAKR) Sungai Pandan, Kuantan, which saw a total of 120 participants attending, while the second was held in Maran in September. With the support of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) as well as the TM Reaching Out Volunteers (TMROVers), the programme was conducted by 12 humanitarian experts with vast disaster response experience, including risk and reduction management from Red A Humanitarian Global. The modules highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, hands-on session to develop localised Emergency Response Plans, water safety and practical swimming, as well as simulation exercises. The participants were also briefed on mental health management and creating children-friendly spaces (CFS) as an added element. For any emergency response plan to work, active participation from the community becomes crucial. During the programme, the communities were also connected to their local government agencies such as the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), Jabatan Pengairan & Saliran (JPS) Negeri Pahang for better disaster response in the future. The third and final session was organised recently in Bentong in collaboration with Istana Negara and attended by 125 participants. Via the three (3) series of CBDRRM in Pahang, YTM have reached a total of 458 community members and local government agencies; inclusively, empowering 123 female participants and 167 children and teenagers. This initiative is aligned with our aspiration to build capacity in disaster preparedness among community members, especially women and children, who are considered first responders’ priority when a disaster occurs. YTM will continuously support the community for better disaster preparedness and response through community leadership and self-empowerment.
