The TCFD report provides transparency around the financial implications of an organisation’s climate-related risks and opportunities. With this 2022 report, TM is taking a proactive approach in understanding, assessing, and managing climate-related risks and opportunities, which will enable TM to strengthen its risk management practices, drive innovation, and ensure the long-term sustainability of its business operations.
TM’s 2022 TCFD report is launched 2 years ahead of Bursa Malaysia’s December 2025 target requirement for public listed companies to align their reporting with TCFD. TM is in alignment with 9 out of 11 TCFD recommendations for the financial year ended 31 December 2022. Bursa Malaysia released this criterion in 2022 as part of its enhanced sustainability reporting requirement.

Through this TCFD exercise, we have sought to build upon our existing initiatives and provide a future-focused examination on how climate change will impact our business. These insights will provide an important foundation that will enable us to continually improve our responses to climate change across each aspect of our value chain,” said Razidan Ghazalli, Group Chief Financial Officer, TM who also spearheads TM’s TCFD taskforce.

Developed in 2022, TM’s ESG Roadmap sets forth a clear vision, commitments, and execution plans across the three pillars of environment, social, and governance.
As part of its efforts to combat climate change, TM launched several impactful initiatives aimed at achieving its goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050. In 2022 alone, significant strides were made, including:
- Renewable Energy-Powered Data Centres - Three of its core data centres are now powered by renewable energy. This transition to clean energy sources significantly reduces carbon emissions associated with data centre operations.
- Network Modernisation for Efficiency - By implementing high-efficiency network elements and retiring legacy components, TM ensures that its network infrastructure operates at maximum efficiency. This strategic approach minimises energy waste and aligns with the overall objective of reducing carbon footprint.
- Energy-Efficient Air-Conditioning Upgrade - In reducing energy consumption, more than 560 conventional air-conditioning units have been replaced with more energy-efficient inverter air-conditioning systems. This transition to energy-saving technology not only contributes to lower carbon emissions but also leads to substantial energy cost savings.
By incorporating renewable energy, optimising network infrastructure, and investing in energy-efficient technologies, TM is proactively working towards a greener future. Employees of TM at Menara TM One, Damansara and Kepayan, Kota Kinabalu tested positive for Covid-19
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) confirms two (2) positive cases of Covid-19 amongst its employees. One of the affected employees is based at Menara TM One in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur and the other is at its Kepayan office in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Both employees are currently under quarantine and receiving treatment at Government quarantine and medical facilities. TM management and staff are together praying for their speedy recovery. TM has taken proactive measures to mitigate further spread of the virus and keep our customers, staff and communities safe. At Menara TM One, all occupants were immediately evacuated and the office building closed for seven (7) days to facilitate thorough disinfection and sanitisation in accordance to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MoH). TM offices in Sabah, Kedah and other Red Zone areas had been closed much earlier as proactive precaution in correspondence to the increasing cases recently. Following these two new positive cases, detailed contact tracing is being carried out by the MoH, assisted by TM's COVID-19 Crisis Response Team (CRT), to identify and inform those whom had close contact with the affected employees. Identified close contacts are being contacted by MoH for further advice and action. In ensuring continued services to our customers, TM employees at the affected states and areas have reverted back to Work From Home (WFH) arrangement utilising digital channels and online productivity tools. Meanwhile, critical function employees (contact centre, field teams for service installation and restoration) shall continue working in compliance to Government and TM's added safety protocols and guidelines. TM would like to remind everyone at all times to keep safe social distance, hygiene and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as advised by the Government. TM has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our customers, employees and community.

TM and PDRM join forces to ensure a pleasant Raya celebration for all
Op Selamat 13/2018 campaign for the upcoming festive season launched to promote community safety and security Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) continues to collaborate with Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) for community safety and security in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration with the launch of the annual safety campaign “Op Selamat 13/2018” today. This campaign, which marks the 21st consecutive years of collaboration between both parties, aimed at increasing public awareness on road safety and home security this Raya celebration season. The campaign was launched by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, the Inspector General of Police. Also present was Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob, Chairman, TM as well as Datuk Bazlan Osman, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, TM and other police officers of various ranks. At the event, Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi flagged off the ‘Traffic Monitoring Team’ and a convoy of motorcyclists and cars to symbolically emphasise the campaign’s message. Speaking at the launching ceremony, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, TM is committed to playing its role in supporting the Government’s efforts towards the nation’s well-being and once again, we continue our long standing collaboration with PDRM for Op Selamat 13/2018 safety campaign this year. TM is also contributing car and motorcycle stickers as well as safety booklets which will be distributed to help aide public knowledge on road safety. In fulfilling its unique role towards protecting the national interest with regards to communication infrastructure, TM also works closely with PDRM on preventive measures and initiatives towards curbing cable theft incidents, as it involves public safety particularly when it causes difficulty for local communities to communicate and seek assistance in case of emergencies.
