Datuk Bazlan bin Osman, 60, a Malaysian, was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) of TM on 30 May 2024.
He currently sits on the board of several public listed companies, namely FIMA Corporation Berhad as an Independent Non-Executive Chairman, Senior Independent Director of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, INED of Bursa Malaysia Berhad and INED of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
Throughout his professional career, which was largely in telecommunication sector, Datuk Bazlan has held directorships in various companies of different industries such as financial services, property development, digital, education and courier service. He has also held positions as President of MIA, Chair of ACCA Malaysia Advisory Committee, Ex-Officio of Financial Reporting Foundation, and a member of the Issues Committee of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board.
He began his career in audit with Messrs Hanafiah Raslan & Mohamad in 1986. He served the Sime Darby Group, holding various finance positions in its corporate offices in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Melaka from 1989 to 1993. He then had a stint with American Express Malaysia Berhad before joining Kumpulan FIMA Berhad in 1994, where he was subsequently appointed Senior Vice President (SVP), Finance/ Company Secretary. He joined Celcom in 2001 as the SVP, Corporate Finance and Treasury and was appointed the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2002 prior to his appointment as TM Group CFO in 2005. He was appointed as Deputy Group CEO in 2017 and later as Acting Group CEO from June to November 2018. He was also appointed as Executive Director of TM in 2008 until he left TM in 2019. He had attended the IMD Program for Senior Executives in 2008, the Strategic Leadership Program at the University of Oxford's SAID Business School in 2013 and the BNM FIDE ASB Program for Directors of Financial Institutions in 2020.
