Ahmad Taufek Omar, 55, a Malaysian, was appointed as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director (NINED) of TM on 1 November 2023 and subsequently redesignated as an Independent Non-Executive Director on 13 September 2024.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.BA Hons) from the International Islamic University, Malaysia and has completed the INSEAD General Management Programme.

Ahmad Taufek has more than 30 years’ experience in the telecommunication and IT industry, particularly in business development and sales, having worked with nearly all major telcos in Malaysia including Maxis Communications Berhad, Celcom Axiata Berhad and Digi Telecommunications Berhad (now known as CelcomDigi Berhad), Time dotcom Berhad and TM.

His last position was as Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer of Sapura and prior to that, served as the Chief Commercial Officer of Digital Nasional Berhad. He was the Executive Vice President of TM ONE from August 2019 to August 2021 entrusted to lead TM ONE as a fully integrated digital enabler for enterprises and public sector.

Besides being in the telecommunication industry,  Ahmad Taufek has also served as the Chief Digital Marketing and Information Technology Officer for QSR Brands Berhad and Chief Enterprise and Business Solutions Officer of PT Smartfren TBK in Indonesia.

Ahmad Taufek is a Member of the Board Nomination and Remuneration Committee and Board Tender Committee.
