unifi is now available in Mukah!
TM continues to empower the digital transformation in sub-urban and undeveloped areas
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) continues to strengthen its position as Malaysia’s Convergence Champion, bringing unlimited experiences, unmatched choices and unbeatable value to customers in Sarawak with its comprehensive suite of High Speed Broadband service offerings when the Company, through TM Sarawak recently expanded its unifi service to Mukah Division, in Mukah, Sarawak.
A launching ceremony to celebrate the milestone was held at the Resident Office for Mukah Division and graced by Hajah Hamdiah Haji Bakir, the Resident of Mukah Division, together with Jafer Sadig Abdul Lathiff, State General Manager, TM Sarawak and Awang Abdul Khairulannuar, Business Head, TM Sibu.
In her speech, Hajah Hamdiah said, “The unifi service offering in Mukah is timely as Sarawak is currently embarking on digital economy to further propel its economic growth. The telecommunication infrastructure to support high-speed internet connectivity needs to be made available in order for digital economy to be adopted successfully for the benefits of the business and residential communities in Mukah. As the nation’s trusted telecommunications services provider, with its extensive network and expertise, we believe TM is more than capable to facilitate our digital transformation journey. We hope TM will continue to further expand its unifi service throughout the state not only covering the urban areas but also the sub-urban and rural areas to bridge the digital gap with their urban counterparts.”
Meanwhile, Jafer Sadig said: “The expansion of TM’s unifi service in Mukah fulfills the demand from our customers and it will enable the local communities, specifically in Mukah, Sarawak to enjoy fully converged communications services; unifi Broadband, unifi Mobile, unifi Wifi and unifi TV. With this expansion, unifi is now available in Mukah in key areas which include Politeknik Mukah until Kingwood Resort, Menara Pehin which houses most of the State Government departments in Mukah including Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) - the administrator for Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE). The expansion will also include Jalan Orang Kaya Setiaraja and Jalan Petanak which will receive the service by end of September 2018. Further expansion will cover other areas such as Jalan Medan Setiaraja, Jalan Tellian, Jalan Hj Latip, Jln Kampung Pinang, Jalan Mohammad Fauzi, Taman Pelita Jaya and Jalan Mukah/Oya while other locations will be fiberised by unifi in stages.
“In line with the Broadband Improvement Plan, I’m also excited to share that our new unifi package, unifi Basic are now available for everyone at an affordable price of RM79 per month, bringing Malaysia in the group of other neighboring Asian countries (other than City State Countries) which offer fixed high speed broadband of 30Mbps at an affordable price,” Jaffer continued.
New unifi Plans
unifi is now available with simplified offerings in two (2) new plans to cater to the dynamic needs of all customers. The existing unifi Basic plan which offers the speed of 30Mbps (60GB quota) at RM79 per month is now open for all. Subscription to this plan will come with 17 free channels on playTV@unifi app which can be downloaded on Apple Store or Google Play. For customers who prefer unlimited quota to cater to their advanced digital lifestyle such as online entertainment, home surveillance, e-sports among others, the new unifi 100Mbps plan is available at only RM129 per month. This will come with unifi TV’s choice of premium entertainment packages with either Aneka Plus, Varnam Plus or Ruby Plus package.
In Sarawak, unifi is currently available at 24 areas comprising more than 172,000 premises passed in 24 areas such as Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Limbang among others. To date, there are over 75,000 unifi customers in Sarawak.

The Group also announced the implementation of its Performance Improvement Programme 2018 (PIP 2018) – a continuation of its transformation journey, now in its 4th wave. TM also introduced new Broadband plans in its ongoing efforts to provide affordable broadband services to the nation, and in support of national aspirations. Datuk Bazlan Osman, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, TM commented on the announcement: “We are currently facing numerous challenges to the business namely intensifying competition; increasing business and operating costs; cautious enterprise spending as well as increasing regulatory pressures. Given these headwinds, we are revising our Headline KPIs for 2018 – to an expected revenue growth of negative 1.0% to flat in 2018, Group Operating Profit (Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT)) at approximately RM1.0 billion and Customer Satisfaction Measure of 72.” At the same time, TM is also revising its capex guidance for this year between 20-22% of revenue, from the high 20s % guided earlier this year. This entails reprioritising its network spending and sweating of existing assets. With regard to expanding its coverage, TM will do so in the most efficient manner. “In our ongoing transformation journey and to adapt to the changing landscape, TM has embarked on our 4th wave of Performance Improvement Programme 2018 (PIP 2018) which looks at 4 main pillars of Revenue Uplift, Sustained Profitability, Improved Cash Flow and Increased Productivity. We believe the strategic initiatives laid will assist TM in navigating through the current challenges and position us in a more resilient and competitive stead. The implementation of the PIP 2018 initiatives will provide us the runway to accelerate our current plans of convergence and digital,” he elaborated. TM announced the introduction of its new Broadband and mobile plans to boost its market leadership position and deliver on the national broadband aspiration with respect to price, speed and coverage. The new plans are as detailed below: 1. A new affordable entry level unifi package at 30Mbps for targeted B40 segment. Lower income groups can access high-speed broadband through this package at a price point below RM100 (more than 40% lower price from the existing 30Mbps package). Registration for pre-booking starts 15 July 2018 via unifi.com.my. 2. unifi ‘turbo’ plans offering more than double the current broadband speed. TM will gradually upgrade the speed for all its existing unifi customers at more than double the speed at no extra cost starting 15 August 2018, while new customers subscribing to existing unifi plans before 31 December 2018 will also be upgraded accordingly in 2019. 3. Special package upgrade for pre-unifi (formerly known as Streamyx) customers in unifi areas nationwide. Eligibility status check will be available via unifi.com.my from 15 July 2018. Note: All above are subject to technical availability in customers’ areas and terms & conditions. 4. A re-launch of its ‘unlimited’ unifi Mobile postpaid plan, which gives customers unlimited data, calls and messaging. This serves as a convergence offering exclusive to existing broadband customers and will be available at all unifi outlets and unifi.com.my from 15 July 2018. “As Malaysia’s Convergence Champion, we believe that internet access is a critical enabler to grow our digital and creative economy towards making life and business easier for all. Today, we serve nearly 2 million broadband homes, more than 8 million individuals and connect more than 10 million devices nationwide. We hear what Malaysians want – faster internet connection at affordable prices, which has been our aspiration since the launch of unifi in 2010. In October 2016, we announced our Broadband Improvement Plan (BIP), with speed increase upgrades of up to 100Mbps at the same price and completed the exercise in 2017 to benefit close to 1 million broadband customers nationwide, including 323,000 pre-unifi customers. Currently, we have started contacting our pre-unifi customers in unifi areas for an upgrade to unifi plans. For others not in unifi areas, we will continuously invest in our network to provide at least our 30Mbps entry level unifi package through the latest fixed and wireless broadband technologies. TMpoint Kajang reports one (1) new positive Covid-19 case
Safety protocols activated – outlet closed for sanitisation till 27 December 2020 Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wishes to confirm one (1) new positive case of COVID-19 amongst its employees at TMpoint Kajang on 13 December 2020. The employee is currently receiving treatment at a Government hospital. Following the confirmed case, TM has taken immediate action to close its TMpoint Kajang until 27 December 2020 for disinfection and sanitisation in accordance to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MoH). Meanwhile, other TMpoint outlets remain in operations in adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as TM’s added safety guidelines to ensure our customers continue to be served. TM management and staff are together praying for the speedy recovery of all those affected by the pandemic. Meanwhile, detailed contact tracing is being carried out by the MoH, assisted by TM’s COVID-19 Crisis Response Team (CRT), to identify and inform those whom had close contact with the positive case. Identified close contacts are being contacted by MoH for further advice and action. TM would like to remind everyone at all times to stay safe – practice social distancing, maintain personal hygiene and adhere to the SOPs as advised by the Government. TM would like to reiterate that it has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of its customers, employees and community.
