KUALA LUMPUR, 19 July 2024 - In view of the recent global tech outage linked to a flawed endpoint protection software update issued by a cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike, which has affected many organisations worldwide, TM wishes to assure our customers and stakeholders that there is no disruption to our business operations and services.

TM has proactively detected this issue and managed it swiftly. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate updates as necessary.

TM successfully concludes its 36th Annual General Meeting; ‘new TM’ transformation journey on track

Amidst challenging environment, the Company remained resilient and paved its way forward with ‘New TM’ transformation to set the Company on a sustainable growth trajectory Telekom Malaysia Berhad Group of Companies (TM Group) today concluded its 36th Annual General Meeting (36th AGM) with all 12 Ordinary Resolutions tabled duly approved by its shareholders. The Meeting, conducted via online for the 2nd consecutive year in view of the Movement Control Order (MCO), saw virtual participation by more than 1,000 shareholders. Commenting on the proceedings, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM said: "We are very pleased that TM once again was able to conduct its AGM virtually and engage with our shareholders without being physically present at the meeting venue. This reflects our commitment towards ensuring the safety and health of our shareholders as well as stakeholders by complying with the guidelines set by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), National Security Council (NSC) and Ministry of Health (MoH)." Also participating in the online AGM was Imri Mokhtar, Managing Director / Group Chief Executive Officer, TM as well as other members of the TM Board. Razidan Ghazalli, Group Chief Financial Officer, TM was also present. "Amidst the market and pandemic challenges, we remained resilient and recorded an improvement in our 2020 performance, as our cost optimisation initiatives continue to drive profitability. Building on current momentum, we have embarked on the next phase of our exciting journey with the 'New TM' Transformation Programme. Guided by our compass of Purpose, Customers, Performance and People, we will focus on Connectivity Excellence, Solutions Excellence and Customer Experience Excellence to set us apart from the competition," added Tan Sri Dato' Seri Bakke. The 'New TM' transformation is anchored on 40+ Value Programmes, driven by a dedicated Transformation Office; with a new cadence towards a higher execution tempo, which is already showing early traction. TM is also reshaping its workforce into a stronger execution engine, embracing a more agile work culture with future-ready skills. This will set TM on a sustainable growth trajectory, to create shareholder value and continuously enable a more Digital Malaysia. TM, in its role of enabling Digital Malaysia, is ready to support the Government's digitalisation agenda, particularly the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) and the comprehensive Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint – MyDIGITAL as well as other Government's digital and stimulus plans, towards accelerating the socio-economic recovery and fast-track the nation into a technologically-advanced economy by 2030. TM is well positioned to play a significant role in MyDIGITAL – focusing on digital connectivity (fibre, 5G, international connectivity), digital infrastructure (Cloud, Data Centre and Cybersecurity) as well as digital skillsets and talents (via Multimedia University and TM Digital Academy). The Company was also appointed as the sole Malaysian Cloud Service Provider (CSP) under MyDIGITAL, at par with the other global players. Enabling greater digital inclusivity for Malaysians through Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap

Following Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil’s announcement on the Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap (Fixed Internet Broadband) yesterday, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is committed to support the Government’s aim to bring hyperconnectivity to key target communities.   Focusing on segments most in need particularly B40, the elderly, OKU, army-police veterans, the delivery of Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap aligns with TM’s aspiration to empower a Digital Malaysia and meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly to promote inclusive and sustainable digital industrialization and innovation (Goal 9), as well as to reduce inequalities and empower social and economic inclusion for all (Goal 10). As a responsible corporate organisation, TM has a social accountability to making a positive impact for the community. Furthermore, the initiative will strengthen the nation’s digital inclusivity and bring digital access and opportunities to all layers of society.   “Pakej Perpaduan comes at a crucial point of the nation’s recovery and complements other national initiatives such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah and Payung Rahmah to ensure a better quality of life for these communities. This serves as another means to combat the rising cost of living and keeps us on track to building Malaysia’s digital economy, despite the challenges anticipated,” said Dato’ Imri Mokhtar, TM’s Group Chief Executive Officer.   “Bringing the power of the internet to underprivileged individuals and families facilitates their right to resources and knowledge online, gives them the opportunity to leverage on digital platform to run online business and can serve as a critical stepping stone for them to improve their lives.   “While the Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap enables more affordable, unlimited fixed broadband and brings savings of RM480 to every eligible household, this complements the announced Pakej Perpaduan Prabayar Mudah Alih (prepaid mobile) in bringing ubiquitous connectivity for the key target individuals and household members. Both of these services will be offered through Unifi Home and Unifi Mobile respectively.   This also reinforces TM’s Fixed-Mobile Convergence leadership, offering integrated fixed broadband, mobile services, data services, digital content and innovative solutions to every Malaysian, businesses and the Government”, he further added.   Gearing up for the March 2023 start and availability for sign up until December 2023, TM will be working closely with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to fine tune the package details and rollout, ensuring the initiative effectively reaches its target communities.   Dato’ Imri concluded, “We are committed to be working on this initiative as it goes beyond providing services but speaks to our vision of becoming a human-centered TechCo – leveraging technologies to provide equal opportunities for every Malaysian. TM Announces Upcoming Change In Chairmanship

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih as its new chairman effective 1 August 2023. He will succeed Tan Sri Azlan Hashim, who completes his 2-year term on 31 July 2023.   Dato' Zainal Abidin brings a wealth of experience and distinguished track record in the corporate sector. He is currently Chairman of Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF), Land and General Berhad, Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd and Tokio Marine lnsurans (Malaysia) Bhd, as well as Board Member of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and several private limited companies. He has also previously served as Chairman of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and President of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).   As Chairman, Dato' Zainal Abidin will be responsible for overseeing the overall governance and strategic direction of TM. He will work closely with the Board of Directors and management team to drive TM's next wave of growth and strengthen its market position.   Tan Sri Azlan, who shall complete his term as Chairman on 31 July 2023, expressed his confidence in the appointment of Dato' Zainal Abidin and stated, "I am delighted to hand over the reins to Dato' Zainal Abidin. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the corporate sector make him the ideal candidate to lead TM into its next phase of growth. I have full confidence in his ability to guide the company towards greater achievements and new horizons."   Dato' Zainal Abidin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and said, "I am honored to assume the role of Chairman of TM. I am excited to build upon the strong foundation laid by Tan Sri Azlan and work together with the Board and management team to create new opportunities and achieve even greater heights.
