Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) confirms two (2) positive cases of Covid-19 amongst its employees. One of the affected employees is based at Menara TM One in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur and the other is at its Kepayan office in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Both employees are currently under quarantine and receiving treatment at Government quarantine and medical facilities. TM management and staff are together praying for their speedy recovery.

TM has taken proactive measures to mitigate further spread of the virus and keep our customers, staff and communities safe. At Menara TM One, all occupants were immediately evacuated and the office building closed for seven (7) days to facilitate thorough disinfection and sanitisation in accordance to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MoH).  TM offices in Sabah, Kedah and other Red Zone areas had been closed much earlier as proactive precaution in correspondence to the increasing cases recently.

Following these two new positive cases, detailed contact tracing is being carried out by the MoH, assisted by TM's COVID-19 Crisis Response Team (CRT), to identify and inform those whom had close contact with the affected employees. Identified close contacts are being contacted by MoH for further advice and action.

In ensuring continued services to our customers, TM employees at the affected states and areas have reverted back to Work From Home (WFH) arrangement utilising digital channels and online productivity tools. Meanwhile, critical function employees (contact centre, field teams for service installation and restoration) shall continue working in compliance to Government and TM's added safety protocols and guidelines.

TM would like to remind everyone at all times to keep safe social distance, hygiene and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as advised by the Government. TM has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our customers, employees and community.

12 new, exciting linear channels and 7 streaming apps will be available on unifi TV starting 1 October 2021 unifi today announced that it will be offering 12 new channels and seven (7) new streaming apps through its unifi TV starting 1 October 2021, as the brand continues to strengthen its position as the leading convergence service provider in the country and commits to providimg world class, high-quality entertainment for home viewing or while on-the-move.  The 12 new linear channels are Celestial Movies, CCM, K-Plus, GEM, AXN, Animax, HITS, HITS MOVIES, TechStorm, Arirang TV, SPOTV and SPOTV2. While, the 7 new streaming apps are Amazon Prime Video, Lionsgate Play, TVBAnywhere+, iQiyi, Viu, ZEE5 and Simply South. Commenting on the launch of the new content line-up, Anand Vijayan, Chief Commercial Officer, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) said he is optimistic that the new offerings on unifi TV will significantly drive sign-ups given the brand’s strength in convergence. With the addition of the new channels, unifi TV will have a total of 73 channels and 10 streaming apps on its platforms. This is also the first time Lionsgate Play and Simply South will be made available in Malaysia through a content aggregator platform like unifi TV, which is also the country’s first content service provider to offer linear channels and streaming apps in a single platform via unifi Plus Box. Streaming app Lionsgate Play is home to blockbuster movies, premium originals, and binge-worthy shows. There will be a selection of evergreen and iconic programmes for the whole family on channels like AXN, HITS and HITS MOVIES. In another development, following the decision by The Walt Disney Company in April this year to discontinue the airing of most of its linear channels in Southeast Asia, unifi also announced that 17 channels from The Walt Disney Company on its unifi TV will be discontinued starting 1 October 2021.  The channels are FOX, FOX Life, FX, SCM Legend, SCM, Star Chinese Channel, FOX Action Movies, FOX Family Movies, FOX Movies, Nat Geo People, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, Baby TV, Sky News, FOX Sports, FOX Sports 2 and FOX Sports 3.  This development is expected to have minimal impact on users as unifi will be rolling out more content variety and streaming app partners in the next few months to ensure subscribers’ viewing needs are met. TM to accelerate fibre deployment in Sabah, targeting 58% state coverage by 2025

Building on its commitment to support the Sabah Maju Jaya aspiration, TM will accelerate its fibre deployment, targeting a minimum of 145,000 premises to be connected in the next three (3) years from 2022 – 2025, achieving 58% of fibre coverage in the state. These targets, along with other matters, were shared during an engagement initiative by TM’s leadership with the Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor today, in an effort to foster a stronger relationship with the state government and various stakeholder groups in Sabah. The delegation, led by Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM shared updates on TM’s activities in the state as part of its effort to bring seamless connectivity and digital solutions to the population, business community, industry and the public sector. TM has invested more than RM1.1 billion in CAPEX in Sabah since 2012 towards improving connectivity and fiberisation in the state. With a total of 32,000km fibre optic cables statewide, TM has connected close to 282,000 premises in Sabah, in addition to the rollout of 59 fibre connectivity sites at schools in the state which serve as Points Of Presence (POPs). Cumulatively, TM has deployed over 600,000km fibre optic cables nationwide, and will continue to expand in line with the implementation of JENDELA. Also shared during the visit were TM’s various initiatives to improve browsing experience of customers in Sabah. To enable faster content downloading and reduced latency, TM deployed the TM internet exchange (TMiX) nodes locally in Kota Kinabalu and Penampang as well as upcoming ones in Inanam, Kinarut, Menggatal and Putatan, expected to be ready by December 2022. The company will also enable content localisation, where OTT players can place their content servers in Penampang, establish a Content Delivery Network (CDN) node and implement an International Gateway (IGW) in the district by Q1 2023. “As a human-centred technology company, TM is ready to play the role of a strategic partner in realising Sabah’s digital agenda in multiple ways, including developing competitive and competent digital talents for Sabah’s Digital Economy through scholarships, education collaboration with MMU as well as job opportunities,” said Imri.
