UNIFI MOBILE OFFERS OVER 32K FREE PREPAID SIM CARDS FOR MALAYSIAN HAJJ PILGRIMS
KUALA LUMPUR, 2 MAY 2025 – Unifi Mobile is offering free prepaid SIM cards to 32,500 pilgrims as well as Tabung Haji staff and volunteers for the 2025 Hajj season. This initiative is part of the Sahabat Korporat TH 2025 programme, through which TM supports Tabung Haji via connectivity and digital value-added services for this year’s hajj pilgrims.
With this programme, those performing the Hajj in 2025 are eligible to receive the Unifi Mobile Prepaid SIM card as part of its Middle East Pass offering. These cards were distributed at various Hajj courses and engagement events organised by Tabung Haji, prior to the Hajj season. The Prepaid SIM card can be self-registered through the Unifi UniVerse app available in Google Play or App Store.
Anand Vijayan, Unifi’s Chief Business and Consumer Officer said, “TM has supported Tabung Haji since 1995, providing services and other benefits as part of the Sahabat Korporat TH programme. This initiative aligns with our aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, to enrich lives and communities through technology, ensuring seamless and affordable connectivity for our Hajj pilgrims while they are abroad.”
“Providing one of the most affordable prepaid plans in the market, we are offering unlimited roaming data passes that can be bought before they leave for Hajj.” he added.
Unifi Mobile’s customised Middle East Pass offering will include various unlimited data plans for customers to choose from to suit their connectivity needs while performing Hajj, ranging from 1-day pass priced at RM15 to 45-day pass priced at RM125.

TM R&D wins prestigious MSC Malaysia APICTA 2018 for the innovation of Smart Safety Helmet
Places TM R&D as the Champion of Research & Development in 2018 TM Research & Development (TM R&D), the research arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently won the Cross Category: Research & Development for its innovative Smart Safety Helmet during the 19th MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA) 2018 organised by the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM). Winning this prestigious award places TM R&D as the champion of Research & Development in 2018. In addition, TM R&D has been selected to represent Malaysia in the Cross Category: Research & Development at the International APICTA Awards 2018 in Guangzhou, China. Present to accept the award was Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D. Developed by TM R&D, Smart Safety Helmet is a data driven smart industrial or safety helmet, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that provides live, wireless monitoring and array of sensors including accident impact and geolocation which can be used to perform various analysis towards creating a safer worksite. It sends telemetry to the cloud and processes the data for the benefit of the employer as well as the staff. It has all the safety helmet features, location tracking services, attendance, violation detection and a video camera for remote coaching and emergency observation of the workforce. KENYATAAN BERSAMA KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA, KEMENTERIAN KOMUNIKASI DAN TELEKOM MALAYSIA BERHAD
PUTRAJAYA – Next Generation Malaysian Emergency Response Services 999 (NG MERS 999) merupakan sistem kecemasan generasi baharu negara yang dibangunkan untuk menyediakan perkhidmatan lebih pantas, tepat, moden dan inklusif. Mula beroperasi sejak 16 November 2025, pembangunan sistem ini adalah hasil kerjasama strategik antara Kementerian Komunikasi (KK), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) dan lima agensi kecemasan utama negara, iaitu: Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM); Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM); Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM); Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM); dan Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (Maritim Malaysia). KKM, KK dan TM telah menerima laporan berkaitan perkhidmatan ambulans. Walaupun insiden tersebut adalah terpencil, perkara ini ditangani secara serius dan dengan kadar segera kerana setiap panggilan kecemasan melibatkan nyawa dan kesejahteraan rakyat. Semakan teknikal oleh TM mengesahkan bahawa sistem NG MERS 999 beroperasi seperti biasa, termasuk prosedur penyaluran kes menggunakan prinsip “nearest available” bagi memastikan aset kecemasan terhampir dapat digerakkan secepat mungkin. Bagi pihak KKM, usaha memperkukuh respons di lapangan terus dipertingkatkan melalui penambahan ambulans, penyusunan semula penugasan petugas di kawasan strategik, serta penglibatan badan sukarela seperti Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, St. John Ambulans Malaysia dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) tempatan sebagai sebahagian daripada keupayaan respons kecemasan negara. Penilaian berterusan terhadap keupayaan koordinasi dan ketersediaan aset juga sedang dilaksanakan bersama agensi-agensi berkaitan. Pada masa sama, Perkhidmatan 999 melalui panggilan suara kekal berfungsi sepenuhnya dan boleh digunakan seperti biasa. Aplikasi SaveME999 pula berfungsi sebagai saluran tambahan, khususnya untuk pengguna yang memerlukan ciri komunikasi melalui teks, video dan multimedia, selaras dengan usaha meningkatkan keberkesanan dan keterangkuman respons kecemasan negara. TM akan terus memperkukuh keupayaan sistem dan aplikasi NG MERS 999, termasuk perisian serta proses teknikal yang berkaitan, bagi memastikan prestasi dan pengalaman operasi yang lebih lancar untuk semua agensi kecemasan.
