TM AND TANAH MAKMUR COLLABORATE TO BRING HIGH-SPEED CONNECTIVITY TO FLAGSHIP KOTASAS DEVELOPMENT
KUALA LUMPUR, 16 AUGUST 2024 – TM via its leading digital convergence arm, Unifi, is collaborating with Tanah Makmur Berhad, to provide fibre broadband services to more than 1,700 residences at the flagship Kota Sultan Ahmad Shah (KotaSAS) township in Bandar Baru, Kuantan.
The agreement was exchanged between Unifi’s Vice President for Product & Innovation Armizy Abdullah Shukri, and Tanah Makmur’s Group CEO YH. Dato’ Shahrul Nizam Abdul Aziz, witnessed by YB. Dato’ Ir. Razali bin Kassim, EXCO, Pahang State Public Works, Transport and Health, and YH. Dato’ Kamarul’ Arifin bin Ahmad, Pahang State Investment Officer.
Leveraging TM’s role as the nation’s leading digital infrastructure provider, Unifi will provide customised high speed broadband plans to residences. Homeowners and residents will have access to Unifi’s broadband services immediately, empowering their digital lifestyles. The inclusion of broadband services will also reinforce KotaSAS’ proposition to deliver high-value properties with reliable connectivity, strengthening its status as Pahang’s new administrative centre.

TM’s commitment to combat corruption and reinforcement of integrity as organisational DNA
Organised annual TM Integrity Day 2022, in collaboration with MACC, SIRIM, PDRM, IIM, TI-M and others TM adopts the highest level of integrity and ethics that uphold the standard of its employees’ behaviour and conduct by championing high integrity and anti-corruption practices in its working environment. It reflects TM’s commitment in adhering to good corporate governance and fulfilling its responsibilities towards investors and other stakeholders. This is maintained through rigorous awareness, internalisation and enforcement efforts guided by its ethics and integrity policies. To demonstrate its commitment and continuous effort to upholding high integrity, governance, and transparency in its business operations, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), has organised its annual TM Integrity Day 2022 (TMID) on 1 November 2022, in conjunction with the National Integrity Day which is observed every November. The many highlights of TMID included MS ISO 37001:2016 certification handover by SIRIM, recitation of the corruption-free pledge followed by a forum entitled, “Uncompromising Integrity”. The TMID 2022 was launched by Datuk Seri TKPj. Norazlan Mohd Razali, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), witnessed by Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan Hashim, Chairman of TM Group and Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM. Also present were Datuk Ir. (Dr) Khairol Anuar Tawi,Chairman SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd, while Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM), and Dato’ Allaudeen Abdul Majid, Deputy Director, Department of Integrity and Standard Compliance (JIPS) PDRM attended as panelists for the forum, moderated by Dr. Muhammad Mohan, President of Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M). TM’s proprietary Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2021–2025 launched last year, was developed to closely align with the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023 geared towards improving transparency, and embedding the principles of integrity, good governance, compliance, and accountability in ensuring governance in the public and corporate sectors in Malaysia. TM OACP is one of the policies developed in tandem with Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009, in accordance with the standards set by IIM. “At TM, "Uncompromising Integrity" is one of the corporate values that must be embraced by every TM employee to fulfill our responsibilities to all stakeholders. We take any misconduct that involves integrity in this organisation very seriously,” said Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan. “I hope that all TM employees and Business Partners will continue to carry out the best duties and responsibilities to the company in the effort of TM to drive the aspirations of Digital Malaysia,” he added. “Our OACP is a 5-year plan to further strengthen TM’s existing ethics and integrity ecosystem among Warga TM, business partners, vendors and suppliers. The OACP clearly defines the focus areas and strategic initiatives to mitigate corruption, integrity and governance risks. It is the duty of every TM employee and business partners to act in the best interest of TM and maintaining the highest degree of integrity, transparency, and accountability,” he further commented. At the event, Imri led the citation of the corruption-free pledge together with Tan Sri Azlan, TM Board of Directors, Senior Management, Business Partners and all Warga TM nationwide in the presence of Datuk Seri TKPj. Norazlan. The pledge is an oath voluntarily taken by TM’s leadership and its employees proclaiming their commitment to carrying out their duties with transparency, responsibility and accountability. Good governance rests with the people. As TM evolves into a human centred TechCo, Warga TM must be empowered in upholding the company values. TM’s company-wide efforts to instill a high level of integrity amongst Warga TM began in 2002 by establishing various policies and guidelines such as TM OACP, certified Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) for high-risk divisions, TM Code of Conduct & Business Ethics, Whistle Blowing Policy, Anti-Corruption Guidelines, Ethics Hotline and several others to infuse transparency, accountability and responsibility amongst its employees and Business Partners.
TM Statement on Cable Theft Incident in Johor Bahru
KUALA LUMPUR, 28 January 2025 – Following the recent cable theft incident in Johor Bahru involving the group known as “Geng Boy” who were apprehended by the police, TM is fully cooperating with the authorities to facilitate their investigation. As the matter is still ongoing, we are unable to provide additional comments at this time. Cable theft is a serious offense that endangers lives, disrupts essential services that Malaysians rely on daily, and impacts the community. Protecting our national infrastructure is vital, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately by calling 999 or visiting the nearest police station. TM is committed to ensuring the security and reliability of our nation’s digital infrastructure, and we will continue to collaborate closely with the authorities to prevent such incidents in the future. We thank the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) for their swift and effective action, as well as members of the public for their vigilance and support in addressing these crimes.
TM AND SINGTEL’S NXERA BREAK GROUND FOR SUSTAINABLE, HYPER-CONNECTED DATA CENTRE CAMPUS IN JOHOR
ISKANDAR PUTERI, 25 JULY 2024 – TM and Nxera, the regional data centre arm of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit, held a groundbreaking ceremony for their data centre campus in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. The groundbreaking comes one month after the announcement for a joint venture to develop data centres in Malaysia and uplift Johor’s digital hub status. This 64MW state-of-the-art, sustainable, hyper-connected, AI-ready data centre campus reinforces Malaysia’s high quality digital infrastructure. It also supports the government's efforts to drive the digital economy and transform the country into a hub for industrial growth, AI development and innovation. Malaysia's Digital Minister YB Gobind Singh Deo; YB Lee Ting Han, Chairman, Johor State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee; and Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling graced the groundbreaking event as the Guests-of-Honour. Minister YB Gobind said, "This investment by TM and Nxera reinforces Malaysia's position as the digital hub in Southeast Asia, further advancing the nation's economic growth. Based on advance estimates, Malaysia's economy expanded 5.8% in the second quarter of 2024, and such investments are in line with projections that Malaysia's digital economy will contribute 25.5% to the nation's GDP by the end of the year. The relationship between TM and Nxera expands to Malaysia and Singapore, with both nations being a good case study of a productive working partnership between two ASEAN member states." YAB Dato Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Menteri Besar, Johor said, “TM-Nxera’s upcoming data centre campus, located right here in Iskandar Puteri, holds particular significance as one of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone’s first investment projects. We welcome the comprehensive scope of their investment with respect to high quality infrastructure, sustainability as well as employment and skilling opportunities which supports our emphasis on talent development, green technology and renewable energy. This data centre campus will serve as a catalyst for economic growth and enable businesses to harness the power of cloud computing and AI. We hope this will set the stage to shape a vibrant business ecosystem where more high-tech and high-value content companies will be attracted to locate their operations within the special economic zone and give a further boost to Johor’s digital economy.” Senior Minister of State Low said, “Data centres are important enablers of our digital economy, powering our economy’s data-driven needs. The facility will be designed, built and certified to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, incorporating energy and water-efficient solutions to optimise the use of resources. This underscores the joint venture's commitment to long-term sustainability goals. To support the new data centre campus, the joint venture plans to expand submarine cable connectivity, enabling a thriving and vibrant digital ecosystem. Located just 16 km from Singapore, the data centre campus will allow customers to seamlessly expand their infrastructure from the city state and the rest of the region. Further, the data centre can be scaled up to 200MW in response to market demand. In addition, apart from creation of new employment opportunities that is important for nation building, the joint venture will invest in building talent for the data centre industry by fostering collaborations between universities in Singapore and Malaysia. It aims to design comprehensive courses with specialised curriculum to provide students with well-rounded knowledge and the requisite skills to propel Malaysia’s growth aspirations. For communities and the region, this means superior country-to-country connectivity and a smarter, more resilient digital economy. As announced in Bursa, this joint venture is conditional upon receiving approval from TM shareholders in the upcoming EGM.
