TM AND TANAH MAKMUR COLLABORATE TO BRING HIGH-SPEED CONNECTIVITY TO FLAGSHIP KOTASAS DEVELOPMENT
KUALA LUMPUR, 16 AUGUST 2024 – TM via its leading digital convergence arm, Unifi, is collaborating with Tanah Makmur Berhad, to provide fibre broadband services to more than 1,700 residences at the flagship Kota Sultan Ahmad Shah (KotaSAS) township in Bandar Baru, Kuantan.
The agreement was exchanged between Unifi’s Vice President for Product & Innovation Armizy Abdullah Shukri, and Tanah Makmur’s Group CEO YH. Dato’ Shahrul Nizam Abdul Aziz, witnessed by YB. Dato’ Ir. Razali bin Kassim, EXCO, Pahang State Public Works, Transport and Health, and YH. Dato’ Kamarul’ Arifin bin Ahmad, Pahang State Investment Officer.
Leveraging TM’s role as the nation’s leading digital infrastructure provider, Unifi will provide customised high speed broadband plans to residences. Homeowners and residents will have access to Unifi’s broadband services immediately, empowering their digital lifestyles. The inclusion of broadband services will also reinforce KotaSAS’ proposition to deliver high-value properties with reliable connectivity, strengthening its status as Pahang’s new administrative centre.

TM Advances STEM Education at 35 Schools Nationwide, Launches TMFS Programme
PENANG, 26 November 2025 – Yayasan TM (YTM), the foundation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), today launched the TM Future Skills (TMFS) programme at SMKA (P) AlMashoor, Penang, one of 35 schools nationwide adopted by YTM under the Government’s Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI initiative. Representing YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah bin Azizan, Minister of Finance II, the launch was officiated by YB Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Finance – marking an important milestone in expanding digital learning opportunities and strengthening students’ participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As an all-girls school, SMKA (P) AlMashoor represents an important opportunity to strengthen female participation in STEM and inspire more young women to pursue future-focused fields. This aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality), particularly in ensuring equal access to education and promoting women’s involvement in science and technology. The school also exemplifies the inclusivity that TMFS aims to deliver across all 35 adopted schools which span remote, island, vernacular and religious schools. This diversity underscores TM’s commitment to ensuring that students, regardless of background or learning environment, gain equitable access to future-ready digital education. YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah bin Azizan, Minister of Finance II, highlighted the importance of strengthening digital readiness in schools to support Malaysia’s long-term economic aspirations. “Initiatives such as TM Future Skills play a meaningful role in preparing students with the digital competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world, particularly for high-value sectors that drive national growth. This is an exemplary model of a collaborative effort between government, industry and schools, and I applaud TM for this programme.” TMFS provides students with structured exposure to STEM subjects through hands-on learning and practical application, including robotics, 3D design, coding, microcontrollers and AI-assisted learning tools. Beyond STEM modules, TMFS also offers teacher certification, digital and soft-skills training including AI learning and communication skills, as well as capability building activities beyond the classroom, such as sports and academic competitions. These components ensure a more holistic and integrated future skills experience for participating schools. A central feature of the programme is the TMFS Digital Hub. Equipped with 3D printers, robotics kits, programming and coding sets, the hub enables students to apply classroom concepts through real-world activities. Selected “nucleus” schools such as SMKA (P) AlMashoor will also extend the benefits of their Digital Hubs to surrounding satellite schools, contributing to the programme’s broader reach. Collectively, the TMFS programme is expected to benefit more than 60,000 students nationwide through shared learning, digital training and enhanced teacher readiness. TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, said, “TMFS plays an important role in developing Malaysia’s future digital talent. By expanding this programme to 35 schools nationwide, we are enabling more students to acquire the skills needed to succeed in a digital world. TM Announces Upcoming Change In MD / Group CEO
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), is pleased to announce a change in its executive leadership effective 1 August 2023. The change sees Amar Huzaimi Md Deris as the new Managing Director / Group CEO of TM, succeeding Datuk Imri Mokhtar, who completes his 3-year term on 31 July 2023. Currently heading TM's domestic and global wholesale business, Amar is another example of TM's home-grown talent, after Datuk Imri. Beginning his career with TM after graduating in 1998, Amar’s roles have ranged from financial control, internal audit, corporate and regulatory affairs, Group CEO’s office, culminating in his current P&L position at TM Global. His strategic vision, combined with operational experience and grasp of global leading technologies, ideally positions him to steer TM's evolution from a Telco to a TechCo. His achievements have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his recognition as one of CPA Australia's 40 young business leaders (2012) and by Capacity Media's 'Power 100' list in wholesale carrier community (2019, 2023). These accolades further attest to his leadership capabilities and the promising future he holds at the helm of TM. Speaking about his upcoming role, Amar said, "Datuk Imri has set the right path for TM, with the strengthened foundation from the turnaround and pursuit of new growth areas – charting the shift from a Telco to a TechCo. I am proud to have been part of that journey; and now, I am enthusiastic to follow through and lead TM to the next level." Datuk Imri expressed his confidence in Amar’s appointment, saying, “Amar is an exceptional TM-grown leader with a proven ability to navigate the business and deliver results. TM ONE COLLABORATES WITH PLANMALAYSIA TO ACCELERATE LOCAL SMART CITIES
KUALA LUMPUR, 29 NOVEMBER 2023 – TM One, the enterprise and government sector business solutions arm of TM, has entered into a collaboration with PLANMalaysia to enable local city councils harness smart innovations and create sustainable, efficient, and connected urban communities. The collaboration is the next phase in TM One’s efforts to accelerate the nation’s smart city aspirations and improve urban living across the country. As part of this collaboration, 29 local councils that were awarded as part of the Malaysia Smart City Recognition Programme during World Town Planning Day 2023, will have access to TM One’s Proof of Concept trials (POCs). Spanning a selection from TM One’s smart services suite, the POCs allow councils to test solutions suited to their localities, enabling them to make empowered decisions in their smart city development efforts. Shazurawati Abd Karim, TM One’s Executive Vice President said, “TM One has always been at the forefront of enabling the country’s smart city initiatives, helping councils nationwide push the boundaries of urban living through smart innovations. Among our recent success stories were Smart City projects in Ipoh, Pengerang, Seberang Prai, Kulai, Port Dickson and Subang Jaya, which experienced reduced time in traffic, lower carbon emissions, and improved response efficiency through solutions such as TM One’s Smart Traffic Management and Smart Surveillance.” Building on these successes, TM One will be offering POCs for the following services: 1. Unified Enforcement System – automation and insight analysis of various local council operation enforcement services that help local councils manage larger communities better; 2. Smart City App – a one stop app for local councils’ e-government services; and 3. Smart Workforce – a system that helps local councils manage field teams in real-time. These services will help councils in their journey towards becoming full-fledged smart cities, as well as improve overall efficiency in their operations and services to their communities. “Through these POCs, we aim to help the government implement Smart Services in more locations, bringing these technologies closer to everyday Malaysians and improving their way of life. This reflects TM’s role in powering a digital nation and enabling transformation for communities, businesses and Government,” concluded Shazurawati.
