TM once again soars high at NACRA 2019!
The Company was recognised as among the best at the annual Corporate Report awards ceremony
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has been accorded the Best Annual Report (Silver) at the recent National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2019. The Company was once again recognised as a leading corporate institution in Malaysia when its 2018 annual report bagged four (4) excellence in major categories.
The awards were:
- Overall Excellence Awards for Most Outstanding Annual Report of the Year (Silver)
- Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia (Gold)
- Best Sustainability Reporting Award (Silver)
- Industry Excellence Award for Main Board Company in Telecommunications & Media category – 23 consecutive years
Commenting on the win, Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM, said, "We are indeed very excited and honoured to once again receive multiple awards at NACRA 2019. These recognitions not only reflect our good compliance to Bursa Malaysia's stringent listing requirements, but more importantly, the award attests to the high standards we place on shareholders' communication. It also demonstrates our commitment towards upholding a high level of corporate governance, transparency, disclosure of information to our stakeholders as well as integrated corporate reporting. The key objective of NACRA is to promote excellence in corporate reporting, greater transparency and accountability by respective parties in their financial reporting and the awards are to acknowledge and recognise high quality corporate reporting.

The Company is ready to bring 5G to all Malaysians; Becomes the First Telco to Deploy Stand Alone (SA) network As the national telecommunications infrastructure provider of Malaysia's Digital Nation aspirations, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is embarking on delivering 5G infrastructure to the country by participating in the 5G Demonstration Project undertaken by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The demonstration project is for TM to test the new 5G features, explore the 5G technology system and assess the best way to deploy 5G infrastructure nationwide. The Company plans to test the implementation of a converged 5G core network which allows co-existence of Non-Stand Alone (NSA) and Stand Alone (SA) network. SA is the future of the 5G network deployment and this demonstration is crucial to fast track 5G implementation in the country. Towards this end, TM through its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE, recently started its 5G demonstration in Subang Jaya, Selangor together with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) to test its 5G solutions namely Smart Traffic Light, Smart Safety & Security and Smart Parking. Besides that, TM is also expanding its 5G Demonstration Project in Pulau Langkawi, Kedah with the demonstration of more 5G use cases. The transmission of 5G service in Pulau Langkawi is going live today, where TM is deploying the first 5G SA network in the country. Commenting on the milestone development, Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: "We are very excited to be part of this 5G Demonstration Project which demonstrates our capabilities to deploy 5G in Malaysia and to roll-out the first 5G SA network in the country. The deployment of our tested and proven 5G-enabled smart solutions for the showcase in Subang Jaya and Langkawi are testament of our commitment in accelerating the delivery of 5G services nationwide. This is in support of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission's (MCMC) efforts in progressing humanity towards improving the quality of lives of the Rakyat. TM, via our innovative and comprehensive products and solutions will continue to lay the foundation for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) and enabling Internet of Things (IoT) – to serve a more digital society and lifestyle, digital businesses and industry verticals, as well as digital Government." TM's aspiration is to deliver efficient and cost effective 5G infrastructure via infrastructure sharing approach, through the access regulations implemented by MCMC. This is by leveraging on its extensive fibre networks, including the submarine cables, telecommunications towers, and Cloud computing as well as ready Data Centres to support the 5G era in Malaysia. In terms of devices and use cases, its wholly-owned subsidiary, TM Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), is also developing and experimenting 5G related equipment to get ready for the upcoming 5G. In addition, the Company plans to test and demonstrate the Dynamic Spectrum Sharing feature where it can dynamically share the same spectrum to support different mobile technologies, dynamically. "This approach is expected to minimise duplication of network which will lead to cost reduction, translating the savings to lower prices for consumers/customers, be more environmentally friendly and allow the savings to be channeled for better innovation and improved customer services. We are open and ready to work together with other operators during this demonstration project. True to our position as the national telecommunications infrastructure provider of Malaysia's Digital Nation aspirations, we have established the communications backbone of Malaysia with the widest connectivity and convergence network," added Dato' Noor Kamarul.
TM Integrity Day 2023 Emphasises “Uncompromising Integrity” as Cornerstone of Corporate Governance
KUALA LUMPUR, 2 November 2023 – TM reaffirms its commitment to integrity, corporate governance, and ethical business practices as it celebrates TM Integrity Day 2023 (TMID). This annual event serves as a platform to reinforce its core values among Warga TM, business partners and its supply chain ecosystem. The theme ‘Uncompromising Integrity’ was chosen to underscore TM's dedication to upholding the highest standards of compliance and ethics in all aspects of its operations. Through these principles, TM continues to strengthen its corporate governance and culture of responsible business conduct. The event featured a forum titled “Strengthening Integrity & Governance” with insights from Tan Sri Abu Kassim Bin Mohamed, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the National Centre for Financial Crime Prevention, and Datuk Dr. Anis Yusal Bin Yusoff, Director of the Centre for Leadership and Professional Development (UM Lead). The forum was moderated by Nik Azli Bin Abu Zahar, Group General Counsel of TM. In addition to the forum, various programmes were organised, including a theatre performance by Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA). Dato’ Zainal Abidin Bin Putih, Chairman of TM, emphasised in his launching speech, “High integrity and efficient governance form the bedrock of any organisation and are essential for building trust among stakeholders. Key principles such as transparency, accountability, fairness, and responsibility in delivering services to customers must be upheld to ensure the sustainability of the organisation.” He added, “Beyond qualifications and skills, another essential attribute that every individual should possess is Integrity. TM announces appointment of new chairman; records highest appreciation to predecessor
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announced the departure of Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh as Chairman of TM Board with effect on 31 July 2021 and the appointment of its new Chairman, Dato' Mohammed Azlan Hashim effective 1 August 2021. On behalf of TM Group, the Board of Directors, expressed their highest appreciation to Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh for his leadership and contribution to the TM Group during his tenure. "The entire Board, management and Warga TM would like to record our heartfelt gratitude to Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke, an exemplary role model in upholding governance and integrity and a highly respected corporate figure; who has brought his vast insights in industry and commercial to benefit the TM Group. Together with the Board, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) and management, we have charted the next phase of growth for the company under the New TM Transformation 2021-2023, anchored on 40+ Value Programmes. This has already seen a strong start with quarterly growth across all lines of business and improved operations. Under his stewardship, TM has also continued to serve and support the nation throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, ensuring Malaysians stay safe and connected at home and remain productive; whilst extending humanitarian aid to those in need during these challenging times." PROFILE OF DATO' MOHAMMED AZLAN HASHIM Dato' Mohammed Azlan Hashim is presently a Board member of Khazanah since 1 April 2020. He is also a Board member and the Investment Panel Chairman of the EPF. He is also currently the Chairman of several public listed entities including D&O Green Technologies Berhad, Marine & General Berhad and IHH Healthcare Berhad. He has extensive working experience in the corporate sectors including financial services and investments. Among others, he served as Chief Executive of Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Berhad, Managing Director of Amanah Capital Malaysia Berhad and Executive Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Berhad. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Melbourne and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
