TM once again soars high at NACRA 2019!
The Company was recognised as among the best at the annual Corporate Report awards ceremony
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has been accorded the Best Annual Report (Silver) at the recent National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2019. The Company was once again recognised as a leading corporate institution in Malaysia when its 2018 annual report bagged four (4) excellence in major categories.
The awards were:
- Overall Excellence Awards for Most Outstanding Annual Report of the Year (Silver)
- Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia (Gold)
- Best Sustainability Reporting Award (Silver)
- Industry Excellence Award for Main Board Company in Telecommunications & Media category – 23 consecutive years
Commenting on the win, Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM, said, "We are indeed very excited and honoured to once again receive multiple awards at NACRA 2019. These recognitions not only reflect our good compliance to Bursa Malaysia's stringent listing requirements, but more importantly, the award attests to the high standards we place on shareholders' communication. It also demonstrates our commitment towards upholding a high level of corporate governance, transparency, disclosure of information to our stakeholders as well as integrated corporate reporting. This is in line with our tenet on the importance to achieve the highest levels of corporate governance, in order to build trust and credibility with our key stakeholders."

NACRA is jointly organised by Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA), and The Malaysia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). The key objective of NACRA is to promote excellence in corporate reporting, greater transparency and accountability by respective parties in their financial reporting and the awards are to acknowledge and recognise high quality corporate reporting.

Employees of TM at Menara TM One, Damansara and Kepayan, Kota Kinabalu tested positive for Covid-19
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) confirms two (2) positive cases of Covid-19 amongst its employees. One of the affected employees is based at Menara TM One in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur and the other is at its Kepayan office in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Both employees are currently under quarantine and receiving treatment at Government quarantine and medical facilities. TM management and staff are together praying for their speedy recovery. TM has taken proactive measures to mitigate further spread of the virus and keep our customers, staff and communities safe. At Menara TM One, all occupants were immediately evacuated and the office building closed for seven (7) days to facilitate thorough disinfection and sanitisation in accordance to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MoH). TM offices in Sabah, Kedah and other Red Zone areas had been closed much earlier as proactive precaution in correspondence to the increasing cases recently. Following these two new positive cases, detailed contact tracing is being carried out by the MoH, assisted by TM's COVID-19 Crisis Response Team (CRT), to identify and inform those whom had close contact with the affected employees. Identified close contacts are being contacted by MoH for further advice and action. In ensuring continued services to our customers, TM employees at the affected states and areas have reverted back to Work From Home (WFH) arrangement utilising digital channels and online productivity tools. Meanwhile, critical function employees (contact centre, field teams for service installation and restoration) shall continue working in compliance to Government and TM's added safety protocols and guidelines. TM would like to remind everyone at all times to keep safe social distance, hygiene and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as advised by the Government. TM has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our customers, employees and community.
TM R&D Continues its award winning streak at the World Communication Awards 2020
The Company’s internally-developed smarter digital solutions for IoT of Water and energy management received global recognitions for innovation. Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), recently bagged two (2) awards at the prestigious World Communication Awards 2020 organised virtually in London, United Kingdom. The awards, the fourth and fifth received by TM R&D this year, were conferred to TM R&D for its innovative solutions namely Smart Water Integrated Management System (SWIMS) under the IoT Innovation Award category while Enterprise Energy Management System (EENT) received the recognition under the Data Innovation Award category. Commenting on the milestone achievement, Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer, TM R&D said, "This is indeed a proud moment for us at TM R&D. For our internally-developed smart solutions to be recognised at the World Communication Awards, it is indeed a huge encouragement for us to further strengthen our position as the leader in research, development and innovation field. In the global telecommunications industry, the World Communication Awards are the most revered mark of achievement. For over 22 years, the awards have recognised innovation excellence in global telecoms companies and attract hundreds of submissions annually. SWIMS is an Internet of Water (IoW) solution, essentially doing for water what Internet of Things (IoT) does for various other industries and verticals such as electric utilities, transportation, smart cities and factory automation. It enables in-depth, new insights into the operations and the right tools to act on those insights. "SWIMS offers end-to-end smart water management that improves non-revenue water management. It optimises the repair and replacement of ageing water infrastructure as well as improves responses to weather events such as water level and quality. The solution has now been commercially-deployed, bringing real innovation to the public," shared Dr. Sharlene. Another recognition received by TM R&D at the World Communication Awards was for EENT. It is a universal internet of energy management solution developed as an agnostic platform to cater for all types of IoT devices, system designs, geographical demand, multi-tenancy or budgeting, with its backend connected to an in-house IoT hosting platform. "EENT offers a seamless end-to-end smart energy monitoring system that improves energy management, optimises energy use as well as improves response to energy saving plan. It adopts big data architectures and analytics technologies, turning the data challenge into an opportunity and ultimately driving revenue, profit or cost reduction," she revealed. TM Announces Upcoming Change In MD / Group CEO
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), is pleased to announce a change in its executive leadership effective 1 August 2023. The change sees Amar Huzaimi Md Deris as the new Managing Director / Group CEO of TM, succeeding Datuk Imri Mokhtar, who completes his 3-year term on 31 July 2023. Currently heading TM's domestic and global wholesale business, Amar is another example of TM's home-grown talent, after Datuk Imri. Beginning his career with TM after graduating in 1998, Amar’s roles have ranged from financial control, internal audit, corporate and regulatory affairs, Group CEO’s office, culminating in his current P&L position at TM Global. His strategic vision, combined with operational experience and grasp of global leading technologies, ideally positions him to steer TM's evolution from a Telco to a TechCo. His achievements have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his recognition as one of CPA Australia's 40 young business leaders (2012) and by Capacity Media's 'Power 100' list in wholesale carrier community (2019, 2023). These accolades further attest to his leadership capabilities and the promising future he holds at the helm of TM. Speaking about his upcoming role, Amar said, "Datuk Imri has set the right path for TM, with the strengthened foundation from the turnaround and pursuit of new growth areas – charting the shift from a Telco to a TechCo. I am proud to have been part of that journey; and now, I am enthusiastic to follow through and lead TM to the next level."
