TM UNVEILS NEW CABLE LANDING STATION TO BOOST REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY
MORIB, 25 September 2025 – TM Global, the wholesale business arm of TM, today announced the completion of its fifth cable landing station in Morib, Selangor (Morib CLS). This marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure development, reinforcing the country’s position as a strategic digital hub in the region.
Spanning 7,000 square feet, the Morib CLS is an open CLS that allows multiple service providers to interconnect and exchange connectivity and data traffic seamlessly. This facility is supported by a dedicated Network Operations Centre (NOC), offering 24/7 real-time monitoring for enhanced operational reliability and service assurance.
Khairul Liza Ibrahim, Executive Vice President of TM Global, said, “The completion of the Morib CLS represents a pivotal step in enhancing Malaysia’s global connectivity. Strategically located along the Straits of Malacca, one of the world’s most important subsea cable routes, the open CLS serves as an ideal landing point—offering direct international access, improved route diversity, and reduced latency. Its proximity to Klang Valley’s data centre clusters further supports seamless network integration, optimising end-to-end data transmission efficiency.”
As part of TM’s ambition to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, the Morib CLS is purpose-built for energy efficiency and future scalability, now capable of supporting up to three submarine cable systems—including the Sea-Me-We 6. Aligned with TM Group’s commitment to responsible and sustainable growth, the facility incorporates practical features such as low-power cooling systems and solar-powered streetlights. The Morib CLS reinforces TM’s long-term strategy to position Malaysia as a leading regional digital hub, reflecting its ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability elements into its infrastructure development.
Liza explained, “Beyond this milestone, TM Global is enhancing its digital transformation footprint, with data centres and Edge Facilities scaled up to 40MW. Construction is also underway for a new AI-ready data centre in collaboration with Singtel’s Nxera, with a planned capacity of up to 200 MW.”

1. TM welcomes and supports the Government's decision to continue with the Single Wholesale Network (SWN) model for the deployment of 5G in the country. We believe this reflects the national aspiration for an inclusive digital Malaysia. 2. The SWN model reflects the shared responsibility to meet the collective objectives of 5G for Malaysia: Telcos to focus on investing and developing innovative 5G products and solutions for end customers. DNB shall focus on network-build towards faster rollout of coverage and capacity in a cost efficient manner. TM will continue to provide the fiber backhaul as committed in the signing of the agreement with DNB on 16 Dec 2021. As such, we are currently undertaking internal customer and network trials to bring an improved convergence proposition of fiber plus 5G services to our unifi and TM ONE customers. YTM launches RM1.5 million social impact grant for NGOs and CSOs to run programmes for the community
Grant to amplify benefits to society; application now open for eligible organisations. Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) aiming to expand the reach of their community-based programmes and increase the benefits to more Malaysians nationwide, may get a shot in the arm in the form of an additional source of funding, thanks to Yayasan TM (YTM)’s Social Impact Grant. The foundation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently launched the grant, adding to its many initiatives which are part of its ongoing transformation journey towards becoming a purpose-driven social impact foundation. As a start, YTM is offering a fund of RM1,500,000 in grants for the first phase. The fund is divided into two (2) categories, namely YTM Social Impact Gold Grant, with each grant ranging from RM100,000 to RM250,000 allocated for mid term projects (with the duration of up to one (1) year) while YTM Social Impact Silver Grant is meant for short term projects (with the duration of three (3) to six (6) months) with funding of RM50,000 to RM100,000 per grant. Izlyn Ramli, Director of YTM enthused, “As we embark on our ongoing social impact initiatives, we understand it takes collective and collaborative efforts to bring meaningful changes to the community. That is why at YTM, we are continuously looking for opportunities to work on and with more effective programmes, many of which are already being planned and initiated by wonderful teams out there; delivering positive changes and benefits to more Malaysians nationwide, making that much needed difference. Tune Protect enters partnership with Huawei Malaysia and TM
FIRST TO HOST THE INSURANCE CORE SYSTEM ON TM’S PUBLIC CLOUD IN MALAYSIA Tune Protect Malaysia (Tune Protect), Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) and Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) announced a collaboration today for Tune Protect to re-platform its existing GIS (General Insurance System), an insurance core system on Cloud. The hosting of Tune Protect’s core insurance system on Cloud is the first for insurers in Malaysia as it progresses in its digital transformation. The core system comes with a set of SAP HANA and SAP applications that will be completely hosted in TM Cloud αEdge (pronounced as Cloud Alpha Edge) which provides multi-cloud deployment management platform, scalability reliance and trust . This pivotal move is part of Tune Protect’s Cloud First strategy , and in line with current market demand. Works are currently underway for the core insurance system to be deployed in multiple phases commencing July 2022. Rohit Nambiar, Group Chief Executive Officer of Tune Protect said, “As the first insurer to have received the approval to host the core system on Cloud, we are further enhancing our group credentials.
