TM’s Edge Facilities Win W. Media’s Asia Pacific Cloud And Datacenter Award For The Southeast Asian Region
Kuala Lumpur, 5 December 2023 – TM Global, the wholesale domestic and international business arm of TM, secured a prestigious accolade at this year's W.Media Asia Pacific Cloud & Datacenter Awards, for its Edge Facilities project aptly titled 'Delivering the Edge'. Effectively meeting the global demand for decentralised data hosting via co-location, this achievement solidifies TM Global's commitment to enhance the country’s digital ecosystem and position Malaysia as a trusted digital hub for the Southeast Asian region.
Functioning as a regional data hosting facility, the project involves transforming existing TM exchanges into Edge Facilities across seven states, including Seberang Jaya (Penang), Tasek Ipoh (Perak), Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Kuantan (Pahang), Kuala Terengganu (Terengganu), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak). Strategically positioned close to the edge of TM’s network, TM’s Edge Facilities significantly reduce the distance between the content hosting location and end-users. This closeness supercharges the velocity of data transmission with ultra-low latency, leading to an enhanced digital experience for all users.

The design of TM’s Edge Facilities replicate key features of a data centre, which includes a carrier-neutral network with service level availability of 99.7%, enabling service providers to capitalise on the flourishing landscape of real-time applications. TM’s Edge Facilities significantly enhance cost-efficiency, accelerates time-to-market and offers scalability to meet the growing demands for both domestic and international service providers.
By winning this prestigious award, TM Global reinforces its commitment to elevate the digital landscape and shape the future of data and cloud technology in the Southeast Asian region. Now in its third year, the award encourages industry transformation and innovation. It recognises achievement and excellence in championing the 3P’s for the cloud and data centre industry: Planet, Project and People. Winners were presented with the awards during a ceremony held at the Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong on 30 November 2023.
Earlier this year, TM won another two awards at the Asian Telecom Awards via TM Global. These accolades, namely “Telecom Company of the Year” and “Wholesale Company Initiative of the Year” recognised TM’s exceptional performance in spearheading significant advancements within Malaysia and the region's telecommunications landscape. The accomplishments underpin the transformation of TM Global’s wholesale business into a new era, marked by the expansion of its Edge capabilities.

TM One and SME Bank collaborate to deliver technology funding to SMEs under PENJANA
TM One and SME Bank sign agreement to provide technology funding to SMEs via SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF) TM One, the business and public sector solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad (SME Bank), an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative to offer technology funding for its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers to accelerate their business and digital transformation. The MoU was signed by Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, TM One while SME Bank was represented by Aria Putera Ismail, its Group President/Chief Executive Officer. The SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF), is a fund set up between SME Bank and the Ministry of Finance to offer financing assistance of up to RM3.0 million to local SMEs. This is part of the Government's Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA) economic stimulus package to provide financial assistance to SMEs in adopting digitalisation and/or automation in their business operations. Commenting on the collaboration, Ahmad Taufek said, "We are excited to work hand-in-hand with SME Bank to accelerate digital adoption amongst our customers particularly in the SME segment. This is in support of the Government's efforts under PENJANA to execute key initiatives to help SMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our aim is to assist SMEs in addressing real business challenges and issues that they are currently facing with the digital solutions available. We have put in place dedicated teams and solutions to enable our customers to realise the full potential of their digital opportunities. Our Professional Services are a consultative approach in helping SMEs to understand how to plan their digital transformation based on their unique business requirements." Meanwhile, Aria said, "With a fund size of RM500 million, STTF is expected to directly assist SME entrepreneurs to achieve higher productivity, process efficiency, efficient cost management and greater market penetration. As at 11 November 2020, SME Bank has approved 18 applications worth RM36.55 million under the STTF fund. SME Bank's role in encouraging the SMEs to adopt digital technology was further enhanced with the introduction of ODELA, the first one-stop e-commerce platform backed by a Development Financial Institution (DFI), that enabled B2B entrepreneurs to make transactions and foster partnership across vast ecosystems. The Bank's wholesome approach in providing financing and entrepreneur development assistance further adds value and accelerate the development of digital economy thus boosting the nation's economic growth in this challenging time." STTF is to be used for financing the purchases of IT solutions and services, technology support services, computer hardware and software, equipment and/or machinery and other intangible assets to enhance productivity and efficiency. SMEs as defined by the National Entrepreneur and SME Development Council (NESDC) are eligible to apply for STTF. TM One's solutions are aimed at helping SMEs to achieve higher productivity, better cost management and improved efficiency for wider market penetration through the adoption of digitalisation and automation. Maxis Leverages TM’s High-speed Broadband Services to Drive Digital Adoption Nationwide
Maxis has extended its agreement with TM, the nation’s largest fibre network provider, to access TM’s High-Speed Broadband (HSBB) premium services until 2029. With the extension, Maxis will continue accessing TM’s national fibre network to provide customers with competitive fixed broadband offerings and value-added services. The partnership will enable Maxis to expand the reach of its high-speed internet connectivity to even more premises nationwide, complementing its own-build fibre network. Maxis currently provides fibre connectivity to more than 700,000 homes and businesses. In addition to standard HSBB access, the premium services include additional requirements that will help Maxis better serve their customers and improve efficiency, including one-stop connectivity and digital solutions offerings for enterprise customers. As a longstanding and premium TM HSBB partner, Maxis will be able to fully leverage the opportunities and broadband capabilities provided by TM, unlocking greater value for its customers.
