TM’s Edge Facilities Win W. Media’s Asia Pacific Cloud And Datacenter Award For The Southeast Asian Region
Kuala Lumpur, 5 December 2023 – TM Global, the wholesale domestic and international business arm of TM, secured a prestigious accolade at this year's W.Media Asia Pacific Cloud & Datacenter Awards, for its Edge Facilities project aptly titled 'Delivering the Edge'. Effectively meeting the global demand for decentralised data hosting via co-location, this achievement solidifies TM Global's commitment to enhance the country’s digital ecosystem and position Malaysia as a trusted digital hub for the Southeast Asian region.
Functioning as a regional data hosting facility, the project involves transforming existing TM exchanges into Edge Facilities across seven states, including Seberang Jaya (Penang), Tasek Ipoh (Perak), Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Kuantan (Pahang), Kuala Terengganu (Terengganu), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak). Strategically positioned close to the edge of TM’s network, TM’s Edge Facilities significantly reduce the distance between the content hosting location and end-users. This closeness supercharges the velocity of data transmission with ultra-low latency, leading to an enhanced digital experience for all users.

The design of TM’s Edge Facilities replicate key features of a data centre, which includes a carrier-neutral network with service level availability of 99.7%, enabling service providers to capitalise on the flourishing landscape of real-time applications. TM’s Edge Facilities significantly enhance cost-efficiency, accelerates time-to-market and offers scalability to meet the growing demands for both domestic and international service providers.
By winning this prestigious award, TM Global reinforces its commitment to elevate the digital landscape and shape the future of data and cloud technology in the Southeast Asian region. Now in its third year, the award encourages industry transformation and innovation. It recognises achievement and excellence in championing the 3P’s for the cloud and data centre industry: Planet, Project and People. Winners were presented with the awards during a ceremony held at the Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong on 30 November 2023.
Earlier this year, TM won another two awards at the Asian Telecom Awards via TM Global. These accolades, namely “Telecom Company of the Year” and “Wholesale Company Initiative of the Year” recognised TM’s exceptional performance in spearheading significant advancements within Malaysia and the region's telecommunications landscape. The accomplishments underpin the transformation of TM Global’s wholesale business into a new era, marked by the expansion of its Edge capabilities.

TM Global extends collaboration with Radian Arc to strengthen its Cloud Gaming offerings
Seoul, South Korea, 1 October 2024 – TM Global, the domestic and international wholesale business arm of Telekom Malaysia (TM), is pleased to announce the extension of its collaboration with Radian Arc, global cloud infrastructure provider, for another two years. This continued collaboration will focus on expanding TM’s cloud gaming offerings at wholesale level. Building on the successful collaboration initiated in 2022, the extended collaboration will see TM Global and Radian Arc further enhance Malaysia's cloud gaming landscape, as well as expanding these services to other regions including Middle East and African countries. The extended agreement will continue to leverage on Radian Arc’s GPU Edge technology complemented by low-latency SHAKS Gamepad controller developed by Radian Arc’s South Korea-based partner, AKSys Co. This will enable a seamless gaming experience and boost TM Global’s capability in offering high quality, real-time applications. The signing took place in Seoul with the presence of YB Fahmi Fadzil, Malaysia’s Minister of Communications, who arrived in South Korea for a working visit. TM was represented by Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s Executive Vice President, while signing on behalf of Radian Arc was its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), David Cook. TM ANNOUNCES SOVEREIGN GPU-AS-ASERVICE TO EMPOWER MALAYSIA’S AI ASPIRATIONS
KUALA LUMPUR, 13 December 2024 – TM, Malaysia’s telecommunication leader, has further strengthened its core capabilities by ramping up its digital infrastructure to enable GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS). Hosted entirely within the country, this initiative aims to bolster Malaysia's AI infrastructure and accelerate digital transformation. The solution was unveiled following the launch of the National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO) by YAB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. The first of its kind in Malaysia, this innovative solution leverages NVIDIA GPU technology hosted at TM’s Uptime Tier-III certified data centres. TM’s GPUaaS provides low-latency, real-time, high-performance AI computing capabilities while ensuring data sovereignty and security, reinforcing Malaysia’s aspirations to become a leader in AI innovation within ASEAN. TM’s GPUaaS eliminates the need for capital-intensive investments, providing scalable and on-demand access to cutting-edge resources. Backed by TM’s nationwide fibre optic network and edge computing facilities, it seamlessly integrates GPU resources with high-speed connectivity to power AI-driven applications such as: • AI for Public Services: Real-time AI Avatars providing information for citizens. • Healthcare Diagnostics: AI-powered imaging and analytics. • Autonomous Vehicles: Real-time traffic and navigation systems. • Immersive Media: AR/VR content creation with real-time rendering. TM R&D Continues its award winning streak at the World Communication Awards 2020
The Company’s internally-developed smarter digital solutions for IoT of Water and energy management received global recognitions for innovation. Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), recently bagged two (2) awards at the prestigious World Communication Awards 2020 organised virtually in London, United Kingdom. The awards, the fourth and fifth received by TM R&D this year, were conferred to TM R&D for its innovative solutions namely Smart Water Integrated Management System (SWIMS) under the IoT Innovation Award category while Enterprise Energy Management System (EENT) received the recognition under the Data Innovation Award category. Commenting on the milestone achievement, Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer, TM R&D said, "This is indeed a proud moment for us at TM R&D. In the global telecommunications industry, the World Communication Awards are the most revered mark of achievement. SWIMS is an Internet of Water (IoW) solution, essentially doing for water what Internet of Things (IoT) does for various other industries and verticals such as electric utilities, transportation, smart cities and factory automation. It enables in-depth, new insights into the operations and the right tools to act on those insights. "SWIMS offers end-to-end smart water management that improves non-revenue water management. It optimises the repair and replacement of ageing water infrastructure as well as improves responses to weather events such as water level and quality. The solution has now been commercially-deployed, bringing real innovation to the public," shared Dr. Sharlene. Another recognition received by TM R&D at the World Communication Awards was for EENT. It is a universal internet of energy management solution developed as an agnostic platform to cater for all types of IoT devices, system designs, geographical demand, multi-tenancy or budgeting, with its backend connected to an in-house IoT hosting platform. "EENT offers a seamless end-to-end smart energy monitoring system that improves energy management, optimises energy use as well as improves response to energy saving plan. It adopts big data architectures and analytics technologies, turning the data challenge into an opportunity and ultimately driving revenue, profit or cost reduction," she revealed.
