Communications and Multimedia Minister, YB Tan Sri TPr Annuar Haji Musa expressed his confidence with the nation’s digital infrastructure to deliver Malaysia’s communications and digital aspirations for now and into the future.

He expressed this after a working visit to the TM Network Operations Centre in Cyberjaya today.

“I’m very happy with the visit today and from what I see, I’m confident that we have the people, capabilities and infrastructure to ensure 100% connection all over the country. We will leave no Malaysian behind,” YB Tan Sri TPr Annuar Haji Musa said after the visit.

TM’s state of the art network operations centre serves as the brains of the nation’s digital and communications infrastructure managing over 600,000 km of communications cables and over 26,700TB data daily.

The centre also monitors the health and operations of the 30 submarine cable systems that carries 1,990TB of internet data into and out of the country.

Commenting on the visit, TM’s Chairman, Dato’ Mohammed Azlan Hashim said, “We are honoured to have YB Tan Sri TPr Annuar and his senior officers from the Ministry and MCMC with us. This visit gives us the opportunity to showcase the various customer segments we serve and the strength of digital technology available and ready to serve our customers.”

“Befitting our unique and important role as the nation’s connectivity and digital infrastructure provider and the enabler of Digital Malaysia, we are ready to serve Keluarga Malaysia with our comprehensive communications and digital solutions. As a Government-Linked Company (GLC), TM remain commited to contribute towards the country's development through telecommunications and digital in support of the country's digital aspirations including JENDELA and MyDIGITAL towards accelerating the country towards a full-fledged Digital Malaysia by 2023,” he added.

The visit today is expected to nurture even closer ties between both parties.

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 November 2025 – TM One, TM’s enterprise and government sector solutions arm, has signed a strategic Collaboration Agreement with SIRIM Academy, a subsidiary of SIRIM Berhad, to advance Malaysia’s capabilities in information security, artificial intelligence (AI) governance, and workforce certification. The partnership combines TM One’s expertise in cybersecurity and managed services with SIRIM Academy’s recognised strengths in training, consultancy, standards development and personnel certification. Together, the two organisations will support enterprises and government agencies in closing compliance gaps, adopting global best practices, and building resilience in the digital economy. The collaboration focuses on certification and workforce readiness, supporting organisations to comply with Information Security Management Systems (ISMS, ISO/IEC 27001) and the newly introduced AI Management System (ISO/IEC 42001:2023). TM One will provide operational security capabilities for monitoring and incident response, while SIRIM Academy will deliver professional certification programmes aligning with standards requirements and national frameworks. To ensure compliance, organisations can further leverage TM One’s Managed Security Services including its Security Operations Centre (SOC), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Managed Detection and Response (MDR), and Threat Intelligence, which offers continuous protection. The agreement also facilitates joint go-to-market opportunities, with TM One or SIRIM Academy leading client engagements as needed. The collaboration was formally made through an exchange of documents between Shanti Jusnita Johari, TM One’s Executive Vice President, and Dr. Mohd Bakri bin Jali, SIRIM Academy’s Chief Executive Officer (Covering), symbolising the start of a shared commitment to advance Malaysia’s digital trust and governance. Shanti Jusnita Johari said, “This partnership with SIRIM Academy reaffirms TM One’s position as a trusted digital enabler for enterprises and government. By embedding training, consultation and certification into our secure digital infrastructure, we ensure compliance is not only achieved on paper but sustained in practice. Together, we are building the human talent and governance frameworks needed for Malaysia to thrive as an advanced digital nation.” Echoing this, Dr. Mohd Bakri bin Jali also highlighted SIRIM Academy’s commitment, “As the training, consultancy and standards development arm of SIRIM Berhad, SIRIM Academy is committed to raising Malaysia’s industry standards and certification readiness. Partnering with TM One allows us to integrate our expertise in standards implementation with their operational capabilities, enabling organisations to adopt ISMS, AI governance and digital trust practices more effectively. This synergy enhances Malaysia’s competitiveness in the digital economy.” The partnership is the latest milestone in TM’s aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, ensuring enterprises and government agencies are equipped with secure, compliant and future-ready digital solutions.

TM inks agreement with DNB to provide fibre connectivity in accelerating rollout of 5G network services nationwide

With a total contract value of RM2 billion over 10 years, the signing of a Fibre Leasing Service agreement with DNB demonstrates TM’s commitment to enable the provision of 5G infrastructure in supporting the Government’s ambitious digital aspiration ​Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announces the signing of a Fibre Leasing Service agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) to speed up the deployment of the Government-owned 5G network nationwide. Taking on a leading role in enabling a Digital Malaysia, and as the national connectivity and digital infrastructure provider, TM is at the forefront of technology and innovation to support the country as it moves forward to realise a more digital society, digital business, digital industry and digital Government by 2030. The term sheet agreement with a total contract value of RM2 billion over 10 years was duly signed by Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM and Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, Executive Vice President, TM Wholesale while DNB was represented by Augustus Ralph Marshall, Chief Executive Officer and Dushyanthan Vaithiyanathan, Chief Operating Officer. Commenting on the signing, Imri said: “Today’s signing further reinforces the Government’s aspiration of putting in place Malaysia’s digital infrastructure and network. We have always been a strong advocate of infrastructure sharing in providing connectivity services and end-to-end solutions, to enable excellent wireless solutions and services.” DNB will be able to leverage on TM’s extensive fibre and network infrastructure, and subscribe to TM’s 5G RAN-to-Edge Fronthaul and Backhaul solution for the provision of fibre connectivity, enabling DNB to provide 5G network services nationwide. Under the agreement, TM will provide DNB with 5G fibre leasing services for connectivity between DNB’s 5G mobile sites and nodes, leveraging on TM’s domestic fibre cable network spanning over 640,000 km across Malaysia. Prior to this, TM along with other fibre providers in Malaysia had participated in the 5G Fiber Leasing Request for Quotation (RFQ) exercise conducted by DNB in June 2021. “As DNB’s selected partner in implementing the Government’s 5G network rollout plan in Malaysia, the signing of this Fibre Agreement is testament to our advanced network technology and workforce capabilities in delivering fibre solutions throughout the country. Critical in executing this mission is to ensure our network is robust to support the future requirements of 5G and further fuel technological innovation in Malaysia,” Imri added. “In delivering the fibre connectivity for DNB’s 5G network, the local telecommunications vendors and suppliers’ ecosystem shall benefit too, in areas such as engineering services, supply of fibre, accessories, poles, manholes and premise equipment. Based on our current fibre implementation, we expect more than 70% of the work to involve and benefit bumiputera and local companies.” “TM is also excited to utilise DNB’s 5G network to provide 5G services and solutions to our home, SME, enterprise and public sector customers. With the launch of DNB 5G network services yesterday, we will be able to test the 5G network and offer services on a trial basis in selected areas across Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya,” Imri concluded. Today’s signing is in tandem with the implementation of Jalinan Digital Negara’s (JENDELA) action plan and cements TM’s commitment of enabling Digital Malaysia through MyDIGITAL. It is also in support of the Government’s other digital plans encompassing digital connectivity (domestic fiberisation, international connectivity), digital infrastructure (cloud, data centre and cybersecurity) and digital talents (via Multimedia University and TM Digital Academy).

TM R&D recognised at MDEC’s Inaugural Malaysia Digital Economy Industry Awards 2022

Acknowledgement for its support for the agency and contribution to the development of the digital ecosystem ​Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently received the ‘Data Sharing Technology Excellence’ award in recognition of its contribution as a partner to the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in growing the data ecosystem in Malaysia. The recognition was given away at the inaugural Malaysia Digital Economy Industry Awards 2022 organised by MDEC, to show appreciation and recognise industry players who have been supporting the agency as well as contributing to the development of the digital ecosystem. Present to accept the award from Dato’ Seri Haji Mohammad Mentek, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, was Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D. Commenting on the milestone achievement, Dr. Sharlene said, “This recognition reaffirms our efforts in developing digital ecosystems to facilitate Malaysians in embracing a more digital lifestyle. It is a proud moment for us at TM R&D and we look forward to continue working closely with MDEC and other agencies with similar aim, contributing our expertise to accelerate data technology adoption and facilitating talent development as well as industry-academic collaboration.” In 2020, TM R&D was appointed as MDEC’s Data Technology Partner under its Data Technology Partnership Programme. The appointment allows TM R&D to work hand-in-hand with MDEC and enterprises in multiple collaboration activities, leveraging on each other’s core expertise and capabilities to accelerate the adoption of data technology among businesses toward boosting Malaysia’s digital economy. TM R&D and MDEC also joined forces to launch a one-stop data exchange platform under MDEC’s #DigitalVsCovid initiative to facilitate and accelerate data sharing. The goal was to bolster research efforts in combating COVID-19. The development of the Data Exchange Platform was among the initiatives aimed at expediting access to data for developers, students, scientists and medical practitioners as well as government agencies. This will help them gather new insights easily on the pandemic and, eventually, pave the way for major breakthroughs. The Data Exchange Platform was built on TM R&D’s Open Innovation Platform (OIP), Malaysia’s first Open Software Development Platform. It consists of a data brokerage platform, an Application Programming Interface (API) store-front and an end-to-end (e2e) ecosystem for the rapid development of smarter 4th Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) services that enable the creation of new revenue opportunities.
