Tan Sri Yong, 80, a Malaysian, was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director of TM on 30 May 2024. 

He holds a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia in 1968. He is currently the Chairman of Royal Selangor International Sdn Bhd, director of GS1 Malaysia Berhad and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER).

Tan Sri Yong previously served as a board member of Bank Negara Malaysia, Employee Provident Fund (EPF), AYER Holdings Berhad, RAM Holdings Berhad and Nestle Berhad. He was also the former President of the  Federation of Malaysia Manufacturer (FMM) and was a member of the Economic Council in the Prime Minister’s  Office. In 2007, he was appointed to co-chair with the Chief Secretary of Malaysia on PEMUDAH, a Special Task Force to Facilitate Business until September 2013. He was also the Chairman on the Board of Trustees of Steinbeis Malaysia Foundation and a founder of the Malaysia Mensa Society.

Tan Sri Yong is a Member of Board Risk and Investment Committee.
