TM ONE AND SARAWAK DIGITAL ECONOMY CORPORATION (SDEC) BERHAD EXTEND COLLABORATION TO SPUR STATE’S DIGITAL ECONOMY
KUALA LUMPUR & KUCHING, 26 DECEMBER 2024 – TM One, TM’s enterprise and government sector solutions arm, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) have announced the next phase in their strategic partnership to elevate Sarawak’s digital economy, digital society, and government services through enhanced connectivity.
The parties recently exchanged a master service agreement to expand Sarawak’s digital infrastructure, aimed at enhancing connectivity and accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies and smart services in driving the state’s digital transformation. The collaboration aligns with the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy and Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030.
This collaboration includes TM One’s Metro-E solution, a flexible, secure, and high-performance bandwidth connectivity scalable to up to 10 Gbps. Its dedicated access for critical applications, proactive security monitoring and nationwide coverage addresses the service levels needed for enterprises and government agencies alike.
Shazurawati Abd Karim, TM One’s Executive Vice President, said, “We are pleased to partner with SDEC in advancing Sarawak’s digital transformation. The Metro-E project will bolster Sarawak’s digital economy, fostering innovation, improving access to digital services and bridging the digital divide across locations. High-speed connectivity at these 81 sites is essential for the adoption of advanced technologies, improving customer experiences and operational efficiency. This collaboration solidifies TM One’s commitment to Sarawak’s sustainable long-term growth and digital aspirations, aligning with the state’s 2030 strategies.”
The five-year project will also deliver high-speed internet connectivity to underserved and rural areas, supporting key sectors such as education, healthcare, and local businesses. This will facilitate cloud computing, telemedicine, online education, and a variety of other digital solutions, furthering Sarawak’s digital progress. The partnership reaffirms TM One and SDEC’s commitment to transform Sarawak, empowering local communities and businesses, as well as enhancing government services through digital technologies.
This collaboration is another milestone in TM’s commitment to enabling Malaysia’s digital transformation and to lead industry growth through digitalisation and sustainability, a pivotal part in TM’s efforts towards becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030.

Dato’ Zainal Abidin Bin Putih, Chairman of TM, emphasised in his launching speech, “High integrity and efficient governance form the bedrock of any organisation and are essential for building trust among stakeholders. Key principles such as transparency, accountability, fairness, and responsibility in delivering services to customers must be upheld to ensure the sustainability of the organisation.” He added, “Beyond qualifications and skills, another essential attribute that every individual should possess is Integrity. The absence of these qualities will not only harm the individual but also have a detrimental impact on the company's performance and reputation”. The event was broadcasted live to facilitate broader participation from Warga TM and TM’s business partners virtually. TM continues to foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct, ensuring a more sustainable future for all stakeholders.

We have received enquiries on when 5G will be available to our unifi Mobile customers. We would like to thank everyone for their excitement and support as we welcome this new era of unifi Mobile. Our goal is to provide unifi Mobile customers the best 5G experience we can offer. As such, we are currently doing extensive internal testing on our 5G service. TM One and UMW sign Memorandum of Intent to embark on co-development of digital solutions for industries in Malaysia
TM One, the business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (UMW) today signed a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) on a strategic partnership to develop digital solutions aimed at enhancing and empowering Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) requirements for industries in Malaysia, making it more productive, agile and future-ready. The MoI was signed by Badrul Feisal bin Abdul Rahim, President & Group Chief Executive Officer, UMW Holdings Berhad on behalf of UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar bin Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM representing TM One. Also present to witness the ceremony was Tan Sri Dato' Sri Hamad Kama Piah bin Che Othman, Group Chairman, UMW Holdings Berhad and Rosli bin Man, Chairman, TM. Through this partnership, TM One and UMW will embark on joint research activities to enable the development of a home-grown Industrial IoT (Internet of Things) platform through the integration of UMW's IoT solution on industrial machines with TM One's IoT Software Platform. "This strategic partnership allows both organisations to further accelerate the implementation of IR4.0. We are now in the era where complementing technological capabilities can help propel businesses to greater heights. UMW is steadfast in its goals to embark on the development of next generation IR4.0 with IoT-enabled industrial solutions. By leveraging on each other's expertise in IoT, we are able to provide innovative products and services to our customers", said Badrul Feisal on the partnership. UMW and TM One will co-develop an IoT-based digital solutions using respective expertise of the partners; UMW in mechanical machines, IoT sensors and control systems and TM One with its IoT software and analytics. These solutions will be made accessible via the platform's dashboard for UMW's IoT-enabled equipment and machineries such as generators, compressors, pumps, turbines and others which will benefit multiple industries such as Energy and Utilities, Transportation, Real Estate, Commercial and Public Sectors amongst others. The eventual combined UMW-TM IoT solution will provide remote access to machines through real-time monitoring and management system as well as optimise asset management including fleet management, energy management, utilisation and disaster management. Through this collaboration, both parties will leverage on each other's strengths to create greater value and support the growth of Malaysia's technological capabilities.
