KUALA LUMPUR, 13 November 2024 – TM proudly announced its double victory at the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Awards 2023, held recently at Courtyard by Marriott, Kuala Lumpur. TM received both the Communication Sector Award and the Best Chief Executive Officer for OSH – Private Sector, underscoring its exceptional commitment to occupational safety and health.

This recognition highlights TM’s proactive approach to OSH, which has resulted in zero fatalities along with a significant reduction in accident rates and Lost Time Injury (LTI) days in 2023.

Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, TM’s Group Chief Executive Officer who was named the Best Chief Executive Officer for OSH in the Private Sector category, said, “At TM, the safety, health and well-being of our employees and communities, including partners and contractors ecosystem are our top priorities. We are committed to fostering a safe environment that not only meets compliance requirements but goes beyond to set new OSH standards across our industry. TM is deeply honoured to receive these awards recognition, further motivating us to continuously strive for OSH excellence hence ensuring every team member returns home safely to their families.”

TM’s safety commitment extends to every level of its operations, with initiatives such as the “TM Life Saving Rules” and the “Safety. We Own It” campaign that reinforces a safety-first culture amongst its employees and contractors. Its comprehensive OSH framework includes regular OSH training, extensive contractor engagement, industry collaborations and digital innovations like the OSHE Intelligence (“OSHEIN”) system. OSHEIN leverages data analytics and AI to enhance safety management, providing real-time insights and predictive capabilities, helping TM to anticipate and mitigate safety risks before they occur.

The Group’s certification to ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Management System – the first in telecommunication sector, further underscores its dedication to safety excellence.

These achievements at the National OSH Awards 2023 align with TM’s aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, fostering a safe and sustainable digital ecosystem for Malaysia while upholding the highest safety and health standards.
