TM Committed For Success Of TVET Madani
Following the official launch of ‘Portal TVET Madani’ and the exchange of Memorandum of Collaboration with the Government today, TM has reaffirmed its commitment to the success of TVET Madani through its tailored vocational education modules along with RM3.5 million contribution for training facilities and scholarship.
TM is presently in the final stage of discussions with several TVET institutions to form partnerships that will help transform these institutions into industry-ready technical development centres, towards enhancing the employability of their graduates.
This will be achieved through the introduction of industry-relevant modules on fibre networks and digital skillsets, the certification of trainers aligning to industry standards, as well as examinations for student certification.
The company plans to develop highly qualified and experienced instructors among its partner institutions to provide expert guidance, especially for B40 students, throughout their vocational journey, and to offer mentorship and support to help them succeed.
TM also plans to equip its partner institutions with access to requisite facilities, relevant modern equipment and technology that will provide students with hands-on learning experience that prepares them for real-world fibre network and digital work.
TM shall invest RM2.5 million to upgrade the facilities and equipment to selected TVET institutions and a further RM1 million in scholarships for students from the B40 group. As a start, this will facilitate employment opportunities for close to 400 graduates per year to work within its business eco-system.
“TM is pleased to announce its commitment to the Government’s TVET Madani initiative through a comprehensive programme that will address the entire value chain. With our strong focus on skills development and industry-relevant training, TM is determined to transform lives and bridge the gap between education and employment for a digitally skilled future workforce,” said Datuk Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM.
“Across TM’s eco-system, we have over 430 fibre contractor partners, 880 vendors and over 90 TM 5G Sphere technology partners that will provide graduates close to 400 skilled job openings in the near future.
“Vocational education will continue to play a crucial role in nurturing a skilled workforce and driving Malaysia’s digital economic growth. By equipping young Malaysians with the practical knowledge and skills needed in our telco and technology sector, we aim to empower the next generation of skilled talents to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to the development of communities and the nation,” he concluded.

YAYASAN TM COLLABORATES WITH YAYASAN DIRAJA SULTAN MIZAN TO EMPOWER YOUTHS
KUALA LUMPUR, 22 September 2023 – Yayasan TM (YTM) and Yayasan Diraja Sultan Mizan (YDSM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower youth from the B40 socioeconomic group with vital digital entrepreneurship skills for them to thrive and compete in the digital market space. The programme costing approximately RM400,000 is shared between YTM, YDSM and Multimedia University (MMU). The collaboration also involved other parties namely Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). The signing of the MoU was graced by the esteemed presence of Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Wathiqu Billah, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of YTM said, “Through their involvement in the Siswazah Usahawan Digital Terengganu (SISDIT) programme, the participants can acquire holistic entrepreneurship skills and knowledge while earning them the globally acknowledged digital qualification, International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) Digital Marketing Certification to complete their skill sets. These would greatly benefit them as they enter the job market. YTM remains committed in its efforts to support the nation-building agenda of promoting socioeconomic development among the underserved communities.” YTM was represented by Dato’ Zainal Abidin, while signing on behalf of YDSM was its Board of Trustee member, Dato’ Dr Che Ab Rahim Nik. Meanwhile, MMU was represented by Ir. The training modules included digital content development, design thinking, business ethics, e-commerce and business model canvas, to further unleash the potential of the participants in digital entrepreneurship. “Each partner in this collaboration will play significant roles in helping the participants succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures by connecting them to opportunities to foster their digital business's development. We hope their success through this programme will encourage their youth peers to take chances and unleash their full potential for a more sustainable living,” Dato’ Zainal Abidin concluded. To date, YTM’s entrepreneurship-related endeavours, including SISDIT, have benefited over 300 entrepreneurs and created new businesses opportunities for marginalised communities, including B40, asnaf and women, nationwide. In line with YTM’s aspiration as a purpose-driven social impact foundation, this continuous effort aims to nurture individual potential in contributing to the positive socioeconomic through digital and technology solutions for the nation.
LAPSE OF CONDITIONS PRECEDENT LONGSTOP DATE FOR THE SHARE SUBSCRIPTION AGREEMENT WITH DIGITAL NASIONAL BERHAD
On 10 May 2023, TM filed a Bursa Announcement to notify that the longstop date to fulfil all conditions precedent in the Share Subscription Agreement (SSA) for the subscription of a 20% equity stake in Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) had lapsed. Consequently, TM issued a termination notice to DNB, effective immediately. Nonetheless, TM looks forward to the next process and discussion with the Government and the industry on 5G participation across Phase 1 (towards 80% service coverage by DNB) and Phase 2 (shift to two networks), as announced by the Government on 3 May 2023. TM is committed to continue playing an active role in the 5G implementation, leveraging its nationwide fibre infrastructure, extensive digital platforms (data centre, edge nodes) and rollout experience. In the meantime, TM customers of Unifi Mobile and TM One will continue to enjoy 5G services and solutions, as the 5G wholesale Access Agreement remains in place. TM is committed to serve as the nation’s trusted partner to grow Malaysia’s overall connectivity and digital ecosystem, including 5G.
